Mare not quite "herself"
hey, my lovely mare has been not acting herself lately. two weeks (ish) ago we went cross country, and beforehand we noticed she was stretching a lot like she had a bit of an upset tummy, but was eating, drinking, and excreting normally and seemed to be herself so we went ahead with the school. She's normally a very forward horse, always galloping with her ears up hunting the next fence, but this day she just was a little slower (nice, actually, sane and calm) and had her ears back. not pinned or even annoyed, just in sort of an uninterested relaxed way. After the ride she stopped the stretching and hasn't done that since.
but since then, she just hasn't been herself. She hasn't been so forward and interested, and even when we went to do some trot sets in the field she was 'slow' and had her ears at half mast. And, her trot one direction is... awkward. definitely not lame, but normally her trot is silky smooth and its just suddenly rough on the one side. on the ground she's totally herself, still interested in food, flirting with the boys, being boss mare, but something has changed.
I've only had her six months so we haven't spent a lifetime together, but.. anyways. any ideas would be good. but, please don't tell me the ABSOLUTE WORST THING IT COULD POSSIBLY BE please be realistic
I ride a red mare. You don't scare me.
3 day eventer. Kicking butt and taking names.
