Moo VS Fence *graphic photos*

My friend has her horses out on agistment at the moment while she's looking for a suitable rental. This afternoon I was meeting her at one of the agistment paddocks to help set up jumps and a makeshift dressage arena.

I was out behind the old run down stables on the property walking around trying to find somewhere for the arena and I heard hooves on the bitumen. I looked over the fence and saw my friend's old mare, Moo trotting down the road. I expected to see one of her kids running after her, but instead saw a guy in a ute driving slowly after trying to move her over on to the grass and try to corner her to catch her. She wasn't going for his plan. She knew where she wanted to go and nothing was going to stop her.

Half the horses are split in paddocks that are around the block from each other with them backing on to each other. She was moved after pony club yesterday afternoon in with a horse and 2 ponies she'd previously been paddocked with for countless years. Well the other horse that was in there had apparently cornered her and from what her rump looked like, he'd had quite a go at her. Which is weird to begin with because he'd never done anything like that before.

After I'd caught her I saw blood on her front legs. When I had a closer look, well, she'd pretty much just run straight through the fence to get away from her tormentor. She had a few minor cuts on her hind legs, but her chest is definitely where the fence got the better of her. Two rather sizeable flaps of skin just hanging there. Thankfully they're clean cuts and didn't cut any deeper than just skin.

She was such an amazing patient, just standing there while I hosed around the wounds to try and get some swelling down and get rid of some of the blood. She even just stood there while my friend put a couple blanket stitches in to close it over a little. I wish every horse was as quiet as her. It certainly makes these things much easier.

Please pray for a healthy and speedy recovery for such an amazing horse. Her rider is a little girl with a slight learning disability and she's just come leaps and bounds in so many ways in her time with Moo. She's just devastated by this injury, as we all are.

Sorry for the novel, but I can't sleep and thought I'd take it out on you lovely people. So for your time, here's some cookies

Hope she heals well so she can continue helping her little friend. The cuts look clean so as long as they stay clean she should heal quickly.

Striving to always excel in everything I do. Whether I fail or not I always try to do better than last time.

Thanks guys

I'm sure she'll heal in no time. Unfortunately for her she's been shut away in a stable yard all on her lonesome. One of her buddies is practically glued to the fence though, he doesn't want to leave her so at least she's got some company.

Aww, poor Moo :( Sending healing vibes her way!

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, Take another shot.
