i know that im probably wrong because somebody would have noticed it but the pony i sometimes ride, likes to uhhh...leave little presents in the aisle for me before or after i ride her...EVERYTIME! well she always paws at the ground before she does that, i think its just her getting excited but i also heard horses with colic will do that too. any answers to a worried pony lover?

If you have ever seen a horse loaded into a trailer who is not very comfortable trailering, the first two things they do is poop and paw. That is the first thing I thought of from your description. Your pony might just be nervous or excited as you say. If she is eating and drinking and does not appear to be in distress, colic is unlikely. If you ever see a horse in its stall or pasture pawing the ground, rolling violently or getting up and laying down repeatedly, that is classic colic. These horses will usually not eat or drink anything, are sweaty and look distressed. Their bellies might be tender and they will kick at their stomach or turn and bite themselves. Once you have seen a colicky horse, you will never miss it again!

That said, if you ever think your pony might be in trouble, get an experienced horseperson to take a look and/or call the vet immediately. Colic can often be treated successfully, but the longer you wait the poorer the outcome might be!
