I jsut buy the human safe kind at Walmart. and sprinkle on top of feed. they have cleaned up the feed. it has sort of a nutty taste to it, but does leave an after taste. I used to help the antique horses shed .

Triple crown makes Omega Max which is just golden stabiles ground flax seed. I buy one bag and feed 6 oz a day and the 25 pound bag usually lasts me awhile and it supposedly stays fresh for a really long time being its 'stabilized'.

I had alot of waste and not as good of results feeding whole seeds. They are small and slippery and the sloppy eaters lost alot of them. I use a blender and grind up several days worth and keep it in the fridge. Its easy.
