Nutrition Newbie?

Ok, so I'm trying to figure out all this horse nutrition stuff, and it's getting really confusing! Like, I know to not feed a horse after it gets hot, like after a workout. So I'm just going to start spitting out questions. Should I feed before a workout? How long after a workout? Can they have water before or after, and how much can they drink? When do I give them oats or grain, if ever? What kind of hay? Can they eat green grass, or sweet grass? What about that Gro-Rite stuff?

As you can tell, horse nutrition is the last thing I know about horses. And I feel awful about not knowing anything! Don't worry, I don't have a horse yet, so I'm not starving anything. But I really don't know anything about what or what not to let my horse eat. Anything else I left out? Thank you all!

That link Sue posted is a good one. Just remember, horses are 'trickle feeders' & not built to cope well with large, rich or infrequent meals. The more naturally you can feed the better, generally.
