Talking My+Lacey's second snowy ride together!

Yesterday it snowed here!

I had never ridden in the snow before last year and last year it only snowed once so I only rode in the snow once.
Happily, this year it finally snowed. We only got maybe 3 inches but it was enough to ride in! I was so excited. lol

Other interesting fact: Lacey, though she hates falling snow, appears to REALLY like riding in the snow. I forgot about this and was all like "Oh! I'm just gonna ride her in her bitless bridle because she's been being so good!"
Hah. Lies.
I had intended to go for a nice leisurely ride but Lacey decided that running was in the cards. I forced her to walk a bit but I let her run enough that she felt like she had done some work, or whatever she wanted to feel like. haha

Anyway, it was lovely. Supposedly we're supposed to get 5 inches overnight tonight but who knows...

Lacey's field right after the snow stopped falling:

"Do you see ALL this snow? Imma freeze to death!"

Hoof print!

First ones down the road...

(20 minute sassy chunk with no pictures)

Our galloping hill:

Our footrpints from walking to my "mounting block" (aka a giant rock), plus our shadows.
Apparently we both drag our feet. lol!

Back home. "Aren't you getting off now??"

"Ahhh! The light! It's too bright!"

Cute face.

"I am an old woman! I need my blanket! Are you TRYING to kill me?"

"Thank goodness for my blanket. Now where's my DINNER!!!"

I am getting SO close to touching this llama. it's now happy to eat out of this bucket while I'm holding the bucket. When I first started keeping Lacey there, it took months to get this one to even eat off the other side of a flake of hay that I was holding.
I can't wait to tell it's owners "Oh, by the way, I tamed the brown llama. Thought you ought to know."

MuckBoots plus their very first snow!

Rest peacefully, Lacey.

you take really good pictures. The lighting and focus are excellent. I love the shot between her ears of the woods etched in snow. Almost a black and white photo, but not quite. I'd frame that one. After all, think of how much of our time with our horses is the view of the world, through their ears!

Send me your snow, Equiniphile! I will glory in it ALL. I love them too! It's such a strange wonderful feeling to be cold everywhere but my feet. I'm glad we're boot twinsies.

*beats csimkunas off with a stick* You can't have her! I refuse! Actually though, send me that brother of Rodeo's and I'll think about letting Lacey visit you.

Thanks Cinder! We did!

Thanks VanillaBean! I love them too. It's so funny for me to go back to when I first started photographing her. I'm not sure if she was uncomfortable with the camera then or if I'm such a better photographer now or what, but she's distinctly letting more and more faces out!

Thanks annaleah! Her mane right now is fantastic, I love it's spiky look too.

Thanks Tiny!
My camera (this little point and shoot from one of my grandmother-like older lady friends) seems to love the snow. I can make it take ok pictures without snow but when it's snowy, everything seems to get extra crisp and extra clear. Maybe it's how there's more light all around or something...
I like that one too! That's so true. The world always looks so much better through a horse's ears! :)

Thanks Country Woman!

Also, I forgot to mention in the OP, but funny story: Right after we got into the woods, Lacey decided she was going to dive towards the trail going home. Since I carry a crop when riding her to deal with just these sorts of situations (when I ask with my legs+reins she seems to think that means that whatever it is is up for discussion, when it is not. The crop seems to get through to her that we are not discussing, I am telling, haha!) I smacked her on the butt with the crop to be all "Hey! Cut it out!".
Well, "someone" wanted to discuss this idea and was apparently frustrated that I was cutting negotiations short, so she bucked!! She never bucks, ever. That was the second buck I've ever gotten out of her in the 3.5 years I've been riding her (dis-cluding crowhops)! It was really funny, she bucked and then immediately stopped "arguing", like she got it out of her system so then she could behave.
What a silly horse!
