My new project

Brought new buckskin weanling colt home last Thursday. Born Feb. 21. He was still on his mama and eating some grain and hay. Sold because breeders wanted a filly. Sire is good with cows/ranch horse, dam not ridden much. He hadn't been handled, and that is what we are working on now. He seems to be a very calm little one, doesn't startle easily. My barn manager is going to help me raise him. Hope to do trail riding and sorting/penning with him eventually. His barn name is Eli.
The 4th picture shows my mare Nessie, the brown, with pasture mates welcoming him home!

Who is the horse in the third picture down? Is that his sire? Both he and your colt looks like duns to me--but it also appears that the colt may be going gray like his dam?

Yes, the 3rd pic down is his sire, a line back dun. My colt Eli also has a line. We'll see what happens with his color. Hope he stays buckskin-looking.

He's gorgeous! Congrats!!!
