Best Boots For Riding (For the horse)

Hi all
I was wondering what the best type of boot would be for Hacking, Show Jumping, Cross Country, Lunging?
Where I live it can get very muddy and the paths are stony
(Different boots for different exercises)

They have to be cheap as well

All advice appreciated
Thanks in advance

are you expecting the ONE boot will fill all those different needs? Because that seems unrealistic.

perhaps you should consider, at the very least, getting two boots; one for barn work and hacking, and one for showing.

I love Ariats, for EVERYTHING, but I am not sure how easily accessable they are in NZ

I only hack, and use the Terrain boot, by Ariat.

Are you talking about boots for the horse?

Like Easy Boots, Renegades, Scoot Boots, and the like?

Well, the three I mentioned are actually brand of hoof boots that go on the hoof to protect it the same way we wear shoes.

What purpose exactly are you trying to fill? Protection from impact? Interfering?

Yes, it's a bit unclear if you mean boots that go over the hoof in lieu of horse shoes, or protective/supportive devices like bell boots, splint boots, etc.

Each has their very own purpose and using conditions so there isn't really one type to do it all. Most horses need nothing. If there is a tendon issue that needs support or a conformation defect that needs protecting let us know and we can advise you.

Renegades are the overwhelmingly popular choice in this part of the world. They're not cheap.

I think maybe you're trying to get too much info from one thread
It would be much easier if you'd make separate threads that are more specific to the type of boot that you want to discuss.
We can change the title of this thread to reflect that if you just report your first post and then start new threads to cover each specific type of boot you want opinions on - for example
Hoof boots
Bell/over reach boots
Wraps/bandages
Brushing boots
Tendon boots
Competition boots for cross country, show jumping
SMB's

Just winging it is not a plan
