I take lessons from a few different trainers, as I ride a few different disciplines. I use one for cutting, on for reining, another for hms and wp. I also take as many clinics as I can so I can get new views. You never know when something will work better for you.
Unless there are ego problems, you should have no problems with riding with more than one instructor.

All of you-liars! lol.

I had my lesson with the second coach and ADORE her. We work really well together. So I told her at the end of the lesson that I'd managed to arrange a lesson with coach 'A' and would like to ride with the second coach 1-2 a week, then have coach A once or twice a month. We got interrupted so I had an email to call her asap. Apparently coach A does not share students and things have turned sour in the past on students who seek outside help.

Omg, I can't believe I attract (bring on by my own doing) drama. So coach A is coming out tomorrow. I'm in such a bind. I have to chose. I want coach B but feel obligated to coach A. But I only rode with her twice last year, so maybe it won't be an issue. Just don't want any enemies.

coach B in a heart beat.

Just don't tell anything to coach "A". And why should you anyway?

Apparently coach A lost it on a student who sought outside instruction. I don't have the temperment to handle anyone losing their crap on me. And she'll figure it out. I'm cancelling with coach A. Trying to live a drama free existence. Ugh, I hate situations like this. I kinda didn't think it was going to be an issue. Oh well. I couldn't pull off the double instructors heist, like some of you lucky ducks.

Imo a coach does not have the right to "lose it" on a student. If she's going to treat her students aggressively like that then I wouldn't want to ride with her anyways! I understand that she may have her reasons for not wanting a student to have 2 instructors but she should be talking to them in a respectful manner and not freaking out. Your the one paying for services here if you don't want to ride with her then don't! I went through a situation like this a few years ago with one of my first coaches (she was absolutely terrible anyways), she saw a friend of mine at the farm helping me (for free!) Over fences. Well I got a nasty phone call from her saying that SHE'S my instructor and if I wanted instruction from someone else then I couldn't ride with her, well that works just fine for me is what I told her and we parted ways. Do what works for YOU not the coach you've only seen twice :) good luck I hope everything works out for you drama free!

Thanks, rosie1. I agree.

I'm content with my choice, and I respect how the second (new) coach handled the situation. She was polite and explained why it was an issue. In the end this coach exacted great results during our lesson and is more personality compatible. I just don't want to get the evils from coach A at shows.

I'm disappointed in the way I handled the situation. But all I can do is learn from it, move on and enjoy my horse.
