Getting over a fear

So growing up I was one of those girls who would ride anything at least once and if it didn't kill me I would probably ride it again. I went through college and got a degree in equine science. Shortly after that I had an accident that was horrible the only reason I'm still here is that I had a helmet on. Well long story short I was physically unable to get back on that horse and since than I have been nervous about riding near the tar roads. I know that the best thing is saddle time. but anyone have any other things they have done to get over that. its been 4 years and one back surgery later and I've decided to get back in the saddle. I can ride and those around me never know but I can still feel it.

You have to face your fears. No one can get over them but you.

I had a bad accident many moons ago. I was told by the surgeon to never ride again. I didn't for a good year but started riding a naughty pony, that was playing a child I was teaching up.

I was very careful over what I did rode but then started working with a horse dealer. I took quite a bad fall on a horse we were trying. I decided there and then that if I was going to end up in a wheelchair or worse then that fall could have been it.

Threw my worries over my shoulder and never looked back.

Just rode what you are happy with and the bug will bite so you progress to roding as you were.

Good luck.
