shirt color???

Hello everyone! I am new to the show ring. My mare and I won first in halter and second in showmanship at our first show 2 weeks ago. I have now been bitten by the show bug! My mare is apha and I will be joining PAC to get points. My question is, what color shirt do I need???? My mare is a chestnut sabino. I have read latte, buckskin or chocolate colors match her. If I go with a lighter top, can I still wear black show pants . Thanks yall

Hobby Horse's website has a color chart that can help you decide! Can you post a pic of your mare?

Post a picture of you together so we can see her color and your coloring hair wise. Unless she is brown I wouldn't go with brown tones. I haven't seen a chestnut/sorrel brown enough to really carry that color combination as well as a BAB.

Jewel tones look well with most horses in my opinion, especially chestnuts and bays. Vibrant deep greens and blues. Unless you want to fade into the background.

The haybarn website has a good chart. I personally like color and prefer to see something that compliments the horse. I guess it could depend on whether you are showcasing the horse's action and don't want to compete with that pulling the eye to you. To bright or intense and it could be overwhelming. But you also don't want to be lost on the horse because you blend right in.

I agree with Avna. Bright colors almost universally look good on most horses. I'm a big fan of bright blues with bays, so Thunder the Shire wears blue. Appaloosa Dreams is a loud colored horse, so I chose a loud color for him too - he looks good in vibrant purple. I've always been a fan of bight greens or blues on a chestnut Ö but I also like yellow and red on a chestnut.

Thanks for the replys. I wore a teal/blue shirt to our last show and it did not suit her at all. Hobby horse says latte, chocolate colors. Sorry I look like a wilted flower, it was very humid that day. image_20190622_103758_HDR_1561242253374_1562587641327.jpg

I think the teal goes well with her coloring.

Beautiful horse! I would’ve gone for maybe a dark purple or darker blue.

OP "My mare and I won first in halter and second in showmanship at our first show 2 weeks ago." then "I wore a teal/blue shirt to our last show and it did not suit her at all." in a later reply. That you did well also says to me it suits. Do you just not like the color? It looks good on you as well as setting off her coat color.
