Barrel saddle or trail saddle

I currently have a synthetic western saddle that came with one of my horses. I am now using it on a somewhat bigger one now and it fits him pretty good but, I am not sure it fits me to well. It does have some mileage on it but over all it is still in good condition.
Anyway, when ever I trot and especially canter on my buddy I find myself not too comfortable and bouncing around a good bit. I would consider myself a midlevel rider and realize that I am part of the problem. I was just wondering if a Barrel racing saddle may help me stay put more but, still be good enough to go on a good trail ride.
Any advice I can get is greatly appreciated. I mostly ride with my 6 year old daughter who rides english. She does some of the local shows right now and because of my "smack" talking ( all in fun ) to the other girls that board and ride at the stable she takes lessons at I have to do the "fun show". I am not sure that my current saddle is going to work with me or against me.

Welcome to the forum FunDad (love the ID).

What size saddle is it and what are your dimensions? It is very possible that your saddle is just wrong for you. I had been riding in a 16" saddle for so long that I hadn't realized that I grew (older and heavier) but my saddle didn't (LOL).

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.

My be you have just bad saddle. :) Good trail saddle is very comfortable and usually is pretty deep to give more security and comfort for the back. Frankly if you don't do (don't plan) any barrel racing but just ride for fun I'd go with trail saddle.

Thanks for the info! I just wanted to make to get some other opinions before I go spending money (and getting yelled at) lol. There is a few shops nearby so I will take my boy with me and make sure he is comfortable with it too.
