I believe you can find SMB's or a simliar make in leather, I would opt for those.
I have been warned many times not to use leg protection on trails that are not manicured. You run into so much that will stick to them and get under them. No mud, water, or anything really. Much easier to just go without. Unless you get the leather ones then brush and such won't stick but you still can't get them wet. Wet traps heat which you never want.
And SMB's come in different styles basically. I like Classic Equine legacy boots myself.
