Howdy again ! Recieved Sweet Iron Berry Concho Ported Chain Bit (Oxbow) as a gift .
Reminds me of some of the Paul Petska designs . Anybody out there got any Oxbow tack in there arsenal ? Perhaps if you see this Ms AtokaGhosthorse you might have heard of them since your also in the Okie From Muskogee state (OK) ?

Big thanks All in advance !!! :gallop:

I think the last set of roping reins I bought are from Oxbow, I'll have to look, they seem nice.

When we lived in Texas the tack store down the road carried Oxbow. A lot of their stuff isn't my style but I did want to try their saddle pads.

Yes and thanks for response . I too have knowticed also a push to market their saddle pads . Something like CSI etc . Competition is good imo to keep prices down from the likes of the 5 Star giants out there in the industry , which no doubt kicks out a great product . BTW here is what the bit I received looks like . I'am sure you will see why it reminded me of a Petska design .

I have never owned any Oxbow stuff, but our local feed store sells their merchandise. I may sell used stuff and a smattering of Teskey new stuff, but man. I gotta admit, I wish I could have gotten the contract with Oxbow. Melba beat me to it. I like their stuff, myself. I think it's all pretty decent, tbh. I sure wouldn't balk at owning that bit, @Rawhide!

YW. I love their stuff. Buuuutttt... I love Teskeys. I love Paul Taylors, even some of Hilason's stuff.

The best...and worst? Paul Taylor's. That place... oh man... they sell a lot of Amish made tack, it's all heavily oil tanned, and they buy it by the crate load... so the entire place smells like good, oiled leather. It's weird how a smell and music can cement a memory... We were in there last year, son was just barely 16, had his first set of keys. Found a spur key chain he couldn't live without, bought some saddle bags and a saddle scabbard for his rifle, some reins, stuff like that. Get's to the check out and A. I've come to Expect it from You by George Strait was being played, and he got the song stuck in his head... it was the first time he'd ever heard it. B. The cute little blonde at the register flirted with him and made him blush... furiously. Then he stabbed himself with the spur on his shiny new key ring and he felt like a doof but she showed him how to hang it on the edge of his pocket so it didn't poke him.

He was DYING... and so was I and so was Hubs/His daddy, because it was awesome. So now when I hear that song and smell that leather... I always end up right back there at that moment in my mind.

Back to the topic. I need to investigate and see if Oxbow has a store open to the public and hit it up one day. Likewise, I know NRS has a big store in Decatur, TX... needa go there.

Lastly - one other popular manufacturer of horse goods is near me. Mustang - they make the saddle pads and saddle blankets, are in Van Alstyne, TX, but I don't think they are open to the public. I'd be in trouble if they were.

Going to NRS in Decatur is a little overwhelming! We spent a few hours there. Their stuff can be a bit overpriced but we still came out with an armload of goodies we got on sale! Ropes, shoes, jeans, ball caps and hubby bought a new black felt American he got a smoking deal on.
