Tack Room- HELP!

We need your insight! We're trying to improve and expand our product lines, and would love to know what everyone would like to see. So, I work for a company called SaddleLockers- we sell tack room storage items and accessories. Pretty much, we sell quality "vertical" tack trunks. Foldable tack trunks for barns, and ones with wheels for showing.

What we'd like to know:
For barn managers/owners/trainers: What would make your life easier in creating a functional, beautiful, ORGANIZED, and safe tack room? What other products would you like to see in your barn that would make your life easier, keep your items safe, make your barn more functional, etc (example- feed bin)? Do you plan on redoing your tack room in the future? Do you provide space for your boarders to have their own tack trunks, or do you provide them with a space for their tack? What discipline is practiced at your barn?
For riders: Does the barn you're at let you have your own tack trunk or give you space for your own tack trunk? Would you prefer a tack trunk that stays at the barn, or one that would be able to travel with you to shows? Ideally, would you like to keep all of your tack (including your saddle) in a locked tack trunk, or just miscellaneous items (liniments, bandages, etc)? What color would you like your tack trunk to be? What kind of accessories would make your life easier at the barn, or at shows? What discipline do you ride?

I could probably come up with a thousand more questions, but that's all I'll ask for now. We honestly appreciate your input on this, and would love to hear any other questions/comments that you have! Thank you in advance

-Amanda

This could just be me, but what I've always kind of wanted was a small tack trunk for the back of my car. I drive a little hatchback and I pretty much always keep my horse places where there is nowhere to store any of my gear. This usually means I leave a saddle and everything lumped in the back of my car permanently, or I just move all my stuff from the garage to the car every time I ride. This gets supper messy and disorganised.

If I could have some sort of pretty small trunk that lets my saddle "lock" into place so it can be carried, and also fits a saddle pad, bridle, grooming gear and fits into my boot and looks kind of okay I'd be pretty happy. It would need dedicated compartments for each that hold the stuff in (like long box type things for the bridle, some kind of brace on the saddle) just so it doesn't fall everywhere and get mixed up.

I can't be of help in a boarding situation. I, too, keep everything in my truck. I used to keep it all in the back end of a PT Cruiser.

Something that would free up the back seat of my truck, that I could attach to the inside of the box of my truck (without bolting it) would be handing now. And when I had the Cruiser, something like Saskia is talking about would have been welcomed.

Even with my tack room in my horse trailer I still need something in the truck because I don't take the trailer everywhere I ride.

-I board, and all of the barns where I've boarded offer some sort of tack locker... some of them better than others. Not all barns do, but IMO a place should.

-At a minimum I want a tack locker that stays at the barn. I don't bring all of my stuff with me to a show, so I need something that stays there. A smaller thing to fit my saddle and other show equipment would be nice, but I wouldn't expect a BO to provide that.

-Everything, including my saddle, goes in my locker. I don't want other boarders, visitors, or potential thieves to have access to any of my stuff.

-I don't care what color my tack locker is at the barn. Most have some sort of neutral color or plain wood, but as long as they all look nice together I don't really care.

-I ride dressage

Trust me, I've been there (saddles, bridles, saddle pads all jammed into my back seat)! That's a really great idea though, I'll definitely pass it along! Thank you for the insight!

Would you want something that held all of your tack, or just the little things? Thank you for the insight! (PS- I can't imagine trying to fit all of my tack in the back of a PT Cruiser!)

I completely agree with keeping all of your tack out of sight and locked up! I know I've spent so much money on my tack (not to mention the time I've spent looking for saddles, bridles, etc) I would hate to have it stolen!

Thank you for the insight from the perspective of a boarder and what you'd like to see from a barn- this will definitely help us in working with barn owners (we want happy BO's, and happy boarders)!

DuckDodgers just about covered it from a boarders' perspective! My biggest challenge as a boarder, is that many of the tack lockers are only large enough for English saddles - I'm tired of scratching or dinging up my beloved and very expensive western saddle every time I move it in or out of my locker.
