i too would recommend an all purpose saddle. seeing as dressage and jumping have been mentioned by blu it seems the most logical choice.

blu - i def say go for an all purpose. i also dont think a black one is an issue. it confuses me why a black one wouldnt be ok. sure, dressage saddles are black but so are many of the more modern western and stock saddles made by wintec etc imo it really doesnt matter.

as mentioned in the other thread, your biggest concern is fit and comfort for you and your horse.

Oops, I thought she said she would not be doing any dressage. Focus on equitation, pleasure, and jumping. But maybe it was in one of the other threads... That's why I had recommended a close contact since I thought she'd be sticking to Huntseat. I also was one who said not to get black. Again, because I thought she was sticking with Huntseat only. In my opinion, black (tack or attire) does not belong in the Hunter Ring. But if Blu is going for dressage as well, then that's a whole other story!

Do you think this could be my first English saddle?

K I think this Wintec might just work. The original one. I just measured my Western saddle. It's a 15" and its getting a little small so this saddle should be perfect right? Or maybe too small? 8)

If your 15" western is getting too small, then I would go with a 17.5-18" English. When I rode in that size English saddle, I rode in a 16" western comfortably.

Also, most stock horses don't take a medium tree. Most need a medium-wide to wide tree.

He is pretty slim actually so I'm not sure.

I do know that if the saddle doesn't work out I can send it back and get my money refunded.

My saddle is comfortable. Its actually PERFECT size if you know what I mean.

I'm praying this will work out!

Everyone...here's another saddle I'm looking at. It is a Wintec. With all the fittings I need. It has a wide tree. And it is a 17". Black.

Hm...she says wide tree on the size category, but medium tree in the description. I wonder which is right?
