Im glad to have found this forum in general and this thread in particular! I'm a fresh 34 year old (my birthday was the first of July) mother of 2 living children that I homeschool (boy age 7 going into 2nd & girl age 5 going into 1st), 2 Australian Shepherds (in the hours no less), 1 inside cat, & 2 outside cats as well as 1 Curly horse. I've had the horse bug since birth - or maybe before since my mom rode and drove while she was pregnant with me. I've bred, raised, & trained from the ground up to driving as well as riding. I don't show & haven't really ever except 4-H. But I've done a variety of disciplines from gaming events, western pleasure, dressage, hunter jumper, team roping, driving and my all time favorite trails. My absolute favorite is trail driving ever since I messed my knee up in high school. Right now our Curly is green broke to ride & I'm polishing her for my daughter to ride before I start working on her to drive.
My hubby is afraid of horses since the 2 times he's ridden he's ended up hospitalized with serious injuries. My daughter is allergic - the reason we have a Curly. My son doesn't want to ride, he only wants to drive - and actually he prefers John Deeres.
If my former life (haha) I was a forensic biologist for the state police. I was canned when the complications from my breast cancer caused me to miss too much work. However, I got my lovely daughter out of my breast cancer - I was pregnant with her when I was diagnosed and when I did chemo. I have nerve damage in my arms and muscle damage in my chest wall from my mastectomies and reconstructions. It's been 6 years (as of 7/7/15) since my diagnosis & together with my mom, we are the longest surviving females in our maternal line. I live next door to my mom & she's a 9 year survivor. She's also responsible for my horse addiction - she was city raised in Trier, Germany, but loved horses.
Sorry, that was a book. I'm a bit wordy - I get excited when I have people to 'talk' to! :-D
