Affording a Horse in College

Hi Everyone:)
I am currently about to enter my senior year of high school, so naturally I have looked into colleges and am in the process of choosing one. I've been riding horses since I was a little girl and I was privileged enough to own a horse at 11 yrs old. I am trying to figure out ways to be able to afford my horse even as I am in college. I'm just looking for someone else who has kept his/her horse through college to share how they managed it in addition to their social life, academics etc. Please, anything is welcome:)

I had a horse through university (college), and I am going to go back next year, and will keep this horse.

I had very little money so I kept a horse as cheaply as I could. This meant shared paddock, self care agistment at places with limited facilities.

Fitting social life and academics around this wasn't so hard. I'd go out morning and night before and after classes. I'd still be able to go out the occasional night - but I've never been a real partier. The biggest difficulty was the money. I did okay, and saved a lot by not going out and drinking, or not going to dinner or not going to the movies. My friends were often amazed that I'd go to the horse every day and spend my money on it rather than doing other things, but it's what I like doing.

I work. A lot. In addition to my horses, I have rent and related bills and my monthly car payment. There are times when I am constantly working, which is fine because then I just use my time at work toalso be my social time. Somewhat pathetic, I know and it's tiring, but I made the decision to buy the horses and now I have to make it work.

When I budget myself, there are things that would make my life a lot easier if I didn't have, like a new car. If I didn't have to pay that, I could easily afford my horses.
