You might try to shorten it a bit at an angle down to the skin at the poll and withers and leave the longest point at about the middle of his neck. That would give him the more rounded, thick necked look.

Also, Tiff, when my Dad was showing, he hated pulling the manes because then he had to deal with the new growth hair that was at odd lengths all the time and tended to stand straight up. He bought a "thinning razor" and used it because it cut the hair but left it without that blunt look that scissors create.

i absolutely love my boys with roached manes esp when theyre going round they look like Trojan horses as my friend calls them, like wannabe stallions and it shows off their necks very nice. I think Denny looks quite handsome and studly lol
