Animal Inside Out Exhibition - Amazing! *Graphic Pics*

Over the weekend we took a trip to Chicago and the highlight of the weekend for me was the "Animal Inside Out" exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry. It will be in Chicago until Labor Day. If anatomy & function interests you and you are anywhere remotely close, I would highly recommend going to see this exhibit.

It was absolutely amazing. I could have spent days in there trying to take it all in. There were a wide variety of animals in different stages/forms of preservation. Many were muscular structures, some vascular, others cross sections with organs preserved. German scientists have perfected a process of plastination and everything is real tissues and structures. Photography wasn't allowed but here are some press images and a news clip from one of the local news stations in Chicago.

Phly, it's totally worth suffering the city for. We were there for 3 days to celebrate DD's birthday...her main purpose was the darn American Girl store. It was a good time but I'm darn glad I live in the middle of no where land!

I've been threatened with a trip to the American girl doll store, I have made it clear that is a GIRL trip, so I'm out.

But now I may tag along, I can go get Portillo's hot dogs while they're at American girl, then we can
Go check that out. It looks amazing.

DD loved American Girl. Took her all of 20 minutes to spend some serious cash lol. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to be honest. Portillo's - YUM! That was a stop for us and a big pie from Gino's too.

this looks like the same process that was used for the "Bodies" exhibit, that had human bodies done like this. It came to Seattle, but I could not bring myself to see it. There was a lot of controversy because the bodies came from Chinese prisoners who were executed, (they had received a death penalty), and their families were not allowed to get the body of their loved one back. At least that's what the spin was , and I think that the travelling exhibit has now ceased.

It was done by the same group that did the bodies exhibit. I wanted to see that when it was in Chicago too but didn't make it.
