$1500 for an OTTB 4 year old that wouldn't run and hasn't done anything else is actually kind of high, for around here. She'd be lucky to get $750 private party, less than $500 at auction.

I feel her pain; greatly prefer the boys too! Much less drama

Why then do I have one gelding and two mares??? *sigh*

I agree dreamcatcher. For our area that is high. Where this lady is located though I can see that price selling without any issues, especially with the raw honesty of what this horse is like assuming that is a true interpretation.

LOL~ I loved the ad, I was just pointing out the difference in reactions. Loosie seemed to think it was a steal and my thought was, "Wow, I wouldn't give 1/2 that for that horse.". Just differences in the markets.

"She wasn't born here so she must load."

Most epic sentence ever.

I sort of feel badly for the horse though.

No, I obviously conveyed that badly - I'm with you, far from a steal, I'd consider about $450 a reasonable price for an uneducated OTTB.

I saw the ad on FB with the photos. The horse is LOVELY and well worth the asking price. She's in beautiful condition, a pleasant expression, really nice build, and will be a fabulous horse for the right person. With the right training, this could be a very high-dollar horse. Some people just don't click with some horses-- not necessarily the fault of the horse or the owner. Kudos to this owner for recognizing that her horse will be better off with another owner, and that she needs a different mount and for being honest. Personally, I like this type of horse because once you get them working for you, they will never, ever quit. But they are not easy horses and not for everyone.

From the reaction to the original post on FB, it sounds like she will have no difficulty finding a buyer. The horse is really nice. One of the nicer-built OTTB's I've seen in a long time. Definite show horse potential. My friend who adores OTTBs was about drooling, but the horse is too far away.
