Bit Of A Brag!

I just have to share as Im so happy right now. I got a Canadian Warmblood gelidng last fall, he was a freebie and we got him as a companion for my TB gelding. He was utd on everything ad I was told he wasnt ridden the past couple years because it had cost a lot to get him sound enough with corrective shoes and such. Ends up he has some conformational faults mixed with improper hoof care. Ive been working with my farrier doing corrective trims, first it was every 6 weeks and since the beginning of this year we have been doing him every 4. She said last time he appears to be fine for walking now and to start riding him at a walk, just no circles. We did a trail ride and he was a gem.. went through water, over logs and even saw a cow from the road and didnt flinch.
Yesterday she was out again and we got to talking about how good hes been feeling and how he runs around with the other horses now. She trimmed him and said I should try asking for a trot.. just see what happens. We discussed that he most likely wont be willing at first as he would associate trotting under saddle with pain, I was fully prepared for that.
So after hsi trim I saddled him up and took him to the outdoor. Walked him around for a while getting him nice and relaxed in a long and low frame. I asked for the trot and right away he pinned those little ears back and gave out a tiny buck. Stopped him, asked for a step back and carried on at a walk till he was relaxed again. Asked for teh trot again and no buck! He only took a couple steps but still, progress is progress. By the end of our session he was doing about 10-15 trot steps calmly. Hes very unsure still and doesnt really know how to move just yet undersaddle at a trot but it will come with time. Best of all he did it all without being lame!! When I first got him he couldnt even trot or canter with the other horses in the pasture he was so sore! Im just so overwhelmed with joy that hes made this much progress, sorry had to brag lol.

*just realized I have no new photos of him standing somewhat straight.. was going to do a before and after. Ill have to grab on when Im out next. sorry guys

Heres his cute face anyways =)
