I think it would depend on your horses shade of chestnut. What I used to do when trying a color was take a picture of the horse, open it in Paint or Photoshop, and "draw" a halter, saddle pad, boots, whatever onto the horse for color comparison. It's not perfect but it does give you an idea! Posted via Mobile Device
I think burgundy looks very good on chestnuts. My little buddy, his TB gelding is a chestnut, and I keep trying to convince him that he should go Forrest Green and Burgundy for his colors - cause they look very sharp on his boy.
It does depend on the shade of chestnut that your horse is. My horse is more of the pumpkin orange chestnut, which is okay with burgandy, but not the best. (However, a dark dapple gray with silver looks stunning in burgandy!) I decided on bright blue for her which i think looks quite nice.
Thanks for the picture Delfina! You're right- it looks nice, but maybe not the best choice.
I'm thinking that after I sell my mare, I'll start buying and selling project horses. I want a color that works well with all colors of horses. I personally really like burgundy, but maybe there's a better universal option.
Any suggestions of what will look great on everything? That probably doesn't exist, but I figured I'd ask!
I think royal blue/navy blue looks good on most horses.
But thats my personal opinion :p. The color you choose depends on yours.
