Tomorrow morning there's a rainbow dog walk being put on by my local Pride Alliance, and I'm going to be going. Whether Mum is coming or not I'm not sure, but something isn't right with her dog at the moment so it's probably best if we leave Shay at home either way. We'll see what happens I guess. Masai's bad hip has been a little stiff so she might need to go for the shorter option (2km).

Why do all my animals have a bad nearside hip?

@Caledonian , stopping incoming tourists would be a good idea for you all's peace of mind. I'm sure they'd miss the money but it won't be long until the flu/cold season is over with.

@PoptartShop , I think Spring is on the way! Tonight I noticed the minis are starting to shed a little and they are always the last to start.

@TuyaGirl , I'm with you in thinking this little community is made up of awesome, caring people. You all were a godsend last summer when I lost mom. While words of encouragement and condolences don't seem enough to the person saying them, they mean so much to the person hearing them.

@RegalCharm , Congrats on officially becoming a grandpa again!

OH HECK NO! I'd have to be nursing him through another open heart surgery. I'm a good animal nurse but have the patience of a gnat when it comes to human patients. LOL

@blue eyed pony , maybe they are conspiring against you and passing the word amongst them that if they limp on their left hind leg they get out of work and babied.

Between talking to a niece and then a sister I confess I didn't get much done today. Niece is trying to get herself in shape for a trip to a ranch in Wyoming this summer. She says she can't ride all day in the mountains without getting off the horse to pee and she doesn't want her friend to have to help her get back on because it would embarrass her. Silly girl, I warned her not to get old and she didn't listen to auntie! LOL

Hubby is trying to con me into getting a cell phone and then ending our home service. I'm supposed to be thinking about it for a few days. For the most part I'm adamantly against carrying one of the dang things around with me but I would like the camera feature and GPS since I'm always getting lost. I'm not so sure he isn't letting AT&T and Verizon con him into thinking the smart phones are so much better that the service wouldn't be spotty here at home like it currently is with his old flip phone which is already through Verizon.

R.I.P. JC 5/19/85 - 12/9/14. You made my life better.

@JCnGrace lol if that's the case then I can definitely blame Masai because she's had a bad nearside hip for 11 years!

@carshon - Good Luck today! Thinking about you and what your going through... good vibes sent your way! You'll come out with a new hip!!

@RegalCharm - Ugh on the weight, Olaf is a little on the heavy side but he's good at exercising himself, chasing the cat, playing with the Jolly Ball and exploring. I hope she likes to new dog food. When I'm giving Olaf his breakfast on the weekend I cut back on the regular food quite a bit. And Congrats on being a grandpa again!

@JCnGrace - he was much dirtier before I spent a lot of time currying the mud off! I hope you're right about spring being around the corner!

@Captain Evil - Cool pics!! Love the sound of strong waves hitting the rocks.

Nothing to confess just wanted to send good thoughts to @carshon . Well I can confess that I'm glad it's Friday!

I confess.. this is the last year we are doing group scuba diving trips.

Every year, barring disasters like our boat sinking or demolishing our house, we plan a big diving trip, advertise it, and all head off. The hope is that everyone has a blast, gets in some diving time, gets to visit places that none of us could afford to see if we didn't make use of group savings, AND DH and I make a bit of money to tide us over some of the lean winter weeks.

We have been to some amazing places... Salt Cay, Curacao, Bonaire, Fiji, Mexico, Guadeloupe, Martinique... and many more.

But those days are over. We are done. Our last three trips have been so problematic, it is absolutely ridiculous! Mexico, we booked our hotel (the whole hotel) through a travel agent, but apparently they used the money we gave them for other purposes, and the hotel was booked up when she finally got around to paying for it. Off to Mexico with 14 people and no place to stay!

Then Bonaire... planes grounded due to mechanical issues, we finally worked around all of that only to be re-grounded due to fog... we hired a driver to take 14 of our 24 people to Boston and re-booked all of our tickets (the other 10 were leaving from other airports). And then - a first - one of our group was a royal PITA! THAT never happened before!

And now this trip: we only have 12 going to Virgin Gorda. HUGE issues!!

We rented an entire 7 bedroom villa on an isolated peninsula with a dock, private beach and a little boat... cancelled! The owner of the villa said the toilets were not installed yet and would not be installed by our arrival time. So he re-booked us into another villa with only 5 bedrooms. He said, "It still sleeps 12!" Yes, but we have several single men and women who do not want to share a bed... 5 bedrooms is not at all the same as 7 bedrooms!

DH and I were ripping our hair out trying to sort it all out. I think we have, (DH and I are sleeping in a utility room on cots), but now one guy (who hasn't paid us yet) is unsure whether or not he can come because he can't find a dog sitter, another guy who is definitely not coming due to family issues: he was coming with his wife and two daughters as a watcher for his youngest daughter, who now has no babysitter and who have only partially paid us; two married doctors who are scared of coronavirus and who JUST paid us (whew!) and myriad other personal issues.

And finally, I contacted the travel insurance guys, and any trips cancelled due to coronavirus or other pandemics are NOT covered...

And now there are so many ways for people to travel inexpensively that there really isn't much financial incentive to book as a group. This trip we planned knowing that we were not going to make any money, but diving Virgin Gorda is a dream of DHs and we really really wanted to go with friends and make it a real adventure and hopefully save a little bit on our tickets to make it semi-affordable, but.....

Never, never again.

@TuyaGirl omg we did post at the same time! LOL! Woops! Ugh, that darn virus has everyone up in arms! Yayyy I'm glad Tuya is shedding too!

@RegalCharm you're going to turn into a fish sandwich!!

@JCnGrace yay! I think so too! Hmmm, a cell isn't a bad idea. My parents have both, a home phone, cell, AND tv/internet through Verizon. But I think because they bundle it was cheaper or something, or else they said they'd get rid of the home phone. It is nice to have a camera too and a GPS! It is super helpful, sometimes I am forced to put mine on around the city where I work because I always get lost. Definitely give it some thought!

@lb27312 I am glad it's Friday too!

@Captain Evil I don't blame you guys for being done with the scuba diving after this year. I feel like every single time something goes wrong & it's ridiculous! I totally get it. Omg...that's so frustrating!!! Why can't things just be simple?! Ugh, now you have to figure it out, again, when it shouldn't even be this difficult. So sorry you are dealing with all this. Losing money & time!!! Every time!

@carshon thinking of you!!!

I confess, I'm happy it's Friday. 80% of the attorneys are out today, so it's a super slow day here...hoping we get out a little early. It's already like 3:30, but woops, nevermind that, someone just told me they want a lot of us to through some stuff in the copy room that they wanna throw away since we have some 'down time'. I'm like darn! I just wanna go home! LOL.

Gonna be windy tomorrow, but I'll probably ride anyway, at least it'll be sunny. Then Sunday it's gonna be 57, so I'm definitely excited...and next week going up to the 60's! PERFECT riding weather! Finally. Just ready for spring...

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Yes it would reduce the odds of catching the corona virus, but if no tourists would that mean @Caledonian would be on unemployment till the virus subsided?

@RegalCharm , Congrats on officially becoming a grandpa again! THank You

Would you still have internet at home or would you be using the smart phone to connect?

Thank You I think when it warms up and stays warm where we can stay out side together it will be good for both of us.

I like fish, what can I say. I like potato's too and could eat them with every meal. I seen an add for chicken and glazed donuts at KFC so I might have to try that also. LOL...

The walk was great fun! We did the 2km and she was spent by the end (and so was I! I didn't realise how unfit I've gotten!) and Masai handled everything really well. There were over 100 dogs present and she has NEVER seen so many in one place before so she was a bit anxious to start with but she settled really well. I'm so proud of her <3

Cell phones are a blessing and a curse!

How have I lost them? Let me count the ways...

-Falling in the ocean with them (only 1)

-Dropping them in the ocean (3 including my new iPhone 11 that fell out of my pocket 3 WEEKS ago into the Florida ocean!!)

-Dropping them into a vat of acetone (1)

-DH hucked one called a "Boulder" across a huge boat shop once to prove it was indestructible, but it wasn't. That one wasn't me.

-Leaving them on the truck bumper and then running over them

-Washing them. Don't try it: doesn't work. I have washed at LEAST 4 cell phones over the years. Come home from work, dog tired, chuck your pants into the wash, and... Voila! No more phone. (One of these sort of survived. My lovely iPhone SE, the only one I really liked. It sort of turns on and I can use it in an emergency, but the speakers are no longer good enough to actually hear well.)

These are two phones that I washed that sort of still work. The black one charges and turns on but that's all, but the pinkish one you can sort of hear through also.

DSC_1008-2.jpg

So I just got a thing called a Phone Lasso. It is a thin sticky pad with a small tether. You stick it to your phone or case. I then got a retractable leash thing with a clip to clip onto a belt loop. Here it is:

DSC_1003-2.jpg

DH gets (understandably) irate when I wash another phone, but he won't even carry one! I have to because of work, and he just uses mine. That way, it's no bother for him.

They can be lifesavers - literally, and I am gently pushing my elderly parents to get one. My dad is housebound and I think it would be helpful if he could reach my Mom when she is out and about.

Hasn't worked so far.
