@carshon and @lb27312 so sorry for your losses. I am terrible at saying lovely comfort words, but my thoughts arw with you. Stay strong and a big hug

@RegalCharm That's a water reservoir No airport in there, only peace and quiet. I do have a small one where I live though.

@JCnGrace Yes, BO has saved many, many dogs (and horses, but he makes profit out of them). He has a kind soul.
I hear you on the weather. It has been freezing here, where's Spring??

@Jolien Great news about the affordable place

@blue eyed pony Great job on the clipping. Lol, someone is in love

Just wanted to wish you all a great weekend

@carshon I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you, and hugs.

@RegalCharm aww, Carmen doesn't mind thunder huh! She is fearless! :) Sure you are so over all the rain though!

@Tazzie so exciting seeing the ultrasound, wow! Glad the arena is coming along too! And yay, haha Izzie is Instagram famouuuus! So cute.

@JCnGrace hmm one of us, I wonder which one. LOL. Ahem, most likely the hubs haha. Same here, had to turn on the AC. It's like 84 degrees today! It's crazy! And cleaning troughs is a pain lol, I hate wasting water like that too. I had to do the same thing yesterday.

@phantomhorse13 I need to hit the trails soon, all your pictures are making me miss them! Maybe this weekend...

@TuyaGirl I love the pictures, looks so beautiful and open there! That sucks about the thunderstorms, ugh. You've had so much rain already. But at least you do get to spend time with your girl! <3 Car trouble is no fun, ugh! Always look forward to seeing your photos!

@Jolien that is so exciting!! About the trail AND the new place!

@lb27312 I'm so sorry for your loss as well. Hugs to you. How did the buns turn out? Sounds yummy, I want a burger now.

I confess, I'm so glad this week is over. It was torture with work LOL.

Washed my car today though, since it's so hot out. It came out really nice. May give Promise a bath later too! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Hoping to hit the trails this weekend finally!

Ride more, worry less.

Thanks guys (girls)

My friend her horse is still a bit sore... He has been struggling with gut issues for a few months now and he has lost a fair amount of weight (but he is still healthy), she is going to see how he is this weekend before she lets me ride him. I feel guilty because most of the time he looked explicitely sideways I scratched his side or nose because I assumed he was itchy. (he appreciated this gesture) When he did it too much and started behaving ''bad'' I plucked at the reins to let him know: focus. Maybe he was uncomfortable and maybe I missed this... (he is also really smart though and he is known to back up when he blabb well knows he should go forward hence the confusion on my part sometimes...)
During lockdown I paid for a subscription on e-books. I now have acces to thousands of e-books for 10 euros a month and I made good use of the money! I already read 12-13 books including books about horses and horse training! :)

The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out and meet it. (-Thucydides)

@blue eyed pony I know!! Once I caught Tuya acting all sexy... To a pony!

@PoptartShop This year has been awful concerning to rain. It almost looks like "so now you work outside let me ruin that for you"
I hope that you had fun with Promise on those trails!

@Tazzie I honestly cannot remember if I had replied to you (sorry) but you know I am always happy to read all is going according to planned about Izzie / the fresh new arena and loving the pictures!

@Jolien I hope the horse gets well soon, for him and so as you can ride. Sounds you made a good deal on those ebooks

Worked Saturday until 3pm, so after that was barn time. Went to pick Tuya and another mare for BO's daughter, and proceeded to tack her. She stands perfectly by the wall to put the briddle on (the giraffe days are long gone, lol), so I was finishing it when she suddenly started to do some kind of a stretching back, like a dog or a cat do, and ended up sitting down, rolling on her back (with the saddle on), and then just stood there on her side for some seconds before getting up. Nor BO's daughter or her friend were there atm, it was very stressful for me to see that. After she looked shaken, but calm. My first thought was sleep deprivation, but BO's daughter said she usually sees them laying down, so I realized that 1) I might have caused it because she is so fat that the girth was a tad too tight (and she already threw herself on the floor with me twice because of it, again my fault) and
2) when she fell she just stood there because her face was lower than her butt, making it harder to get up.
So I undid one hole on the girth, and went to try her for just a little bit. She was very good and willing, but I didn't push too much.
Today I went to see her, told the event to BO, and he didn't worry too much about it. He focused on her muscle and top shape for her age
Rode her once again and something hapenned for the second time in between today and yesterday - she did not move when mounting. It's the girth for sure, as today just in case it was quite loose as well. Mind me, I never ride with a tight girth, and sometimes it even hurts me to look at how much they pull it on their horses.
Problem is, the saddle could slip sideways at any moment, although she barely spooks anymore and most times in place. I can ride like that in the arena as I did today, but not on te trail... We will see how it goes from here.
And she is not lame or itchy anymore!!

Pictures of the old gal (does not make justice to how round she is), of the murder she did on half her mane, and of the dog that BO gave away, and in the meantime escaped and came back. He is smiling like no regrets, lol! (He will be returned back to the lady)

I confess I am behind on my reading here and hope to get caught up tomorrow!

I got some saddle time last week. The whole story is in my journal.

Tuesday, I started with Iggy:

Next up was George:

Wednesday, I started with Phin:

Next I worked with Link:

Then, I hopped on Iggy just to take Kestrel for a walk:

Just after we finished dinner, Ed arrived with the nephews to visit the horses. Link is their favorite!

@RegalCharm , while I hate wasting that water I wouldn't want to save it either. I only fill it half full when rain is forecasted. I did that whatever day it was I dumped it out but it's already overflowing again.

@blue eyed pony , JC tried with his girlfriends but had a serious ED problem. LOL Speaking of which 2 mayflies were procreating on the storm door when I took the dog out tonight. I told them to go get a room!

@TuyaGirl , I bet you're right about Tuya going down from a tight girth. I've seen that a lot. Then it can become habit and they'll start to go down as soon as they feel the girth on their belly.

That is too funny about the dog coming back, he looks quite happy there! You BO may just have to accept he has another mouth to feed.

@Jolien , that's a darn good deal! As much as I hate to I know I'm going to have to break down and buy a Kindle or something similar because the selection of physical books is getting slimmer and slimmer.

@PoptartShop , Enjoy! Hubs washed my truck today and now it's raining. He knew it was going to so I don't understand his logic but hey, it kept him out of the house for a while so I kept my mouth shut. LOL

@phantomhorse13 , have the nephews gotten to the point where they want you to saddle a horse up so you can lead them around and then 5 minutes later say they are done?

Well even though we have gotten rain everyday at least it hasn't been without some dry spells. Thank goodness for that!

Yesterday was cleaning out Gamble's herd's water trough and Cutter was fascinated in the little stub of a pony tail I got going on what with not being able to get my hair cut. He kept poking it with his nose and since I was bent over the tank and couldn't see his expression I don't know if he was making fun of it or glad to see it back after it being gone for last few years. LOL

R.I.P. JC 5/19/85 - 12/9/14. You made my life better.

@JCnGrace lmao that was half Chuck's issue. Ikora has settled down and Chuck's gone back in with the BO's dry mares now :)

That being said, she is still anxious. Today, she was running the fenceline and screaming with Hippo in plain sight. We're lighting bonfires and there's a bit of smoke and she just isn't coping with any level of stress right now. I think it must be because there's Murray Grey cows in the paddock across the road. She HATES the breed, but she's fine with anything else??

@JCnGrace hopefully it will not turn into a dry spell later this year and you will not have to worry about water. I would say put it on the flowers and gardens but will all the rain so far those have plenty

@phantomhorse13 Link looks like he is coming along really good and he likes kids so that is another + . LOL. You ever see any shed antlers in your journeys through the woods. I was thinking maybe fasten them on a halter some way and you would have your own reinhorse for Christmas. LOL>..

Watched the oldest sons 3 kids all day Saturday. The youngest is still a little shy of Carmen but she likes to brush her so Carmen lets her and tries to get her to play with the squeaky pig (new toy) But when Carmen takes it out of her hand before she can throw it, game over for the little one. LOL..

The weekend was nice and sunny a little rain shower this morning and I hope to cut grass later. A couple more days and I will have to have some one bale it . LOL. All that green grass will be going to waste.

Carmen spotted this little pine squirrel running in the ditch on the other side of the road, I say was she was looking for and watched it as it climbed the tire on the neighbors truck (he died early last fall) and disappeared up into the fender well. So will have to tell the neighbor about it as it probably has a nest built somewhere under the hood. It is a new Ford F-150 and doesn't need any of the wiring chewed on.

@carshon and @lb27312 : so very sorry to read of your loss. I hope you and yours can find peace.

@TuyaGirl : how scary that Tuya fell over!! I am glad she is not itchy any more and you have been able to get saddle time.

@JCnGrace : the older nephew has only recently gotten brave enough to even pet the horses. The younger one is still somewhat timid, but does show some interest. If they do decide they want to ride, we would use Gina's horse Amish as he is the most steady. How funny that Cutter was critiquing your hair - be careful he doesn't cut it for you with one bite!

@blue eyed pony : sorry to hear that Ikora is so unsettled. I hope she doesn't hurt herself again.

@RegalCharm : this year has been terrible for sheds, as all I found was one very old and chewed spike antler. Nicole has both a santa hat and reindeer antlers for horses, if we wanted to try dressing them up this winter. I figured I didn't want to give them any more reason to put me on the ground.. Hope the squirrel hasn't damaged your neighbor's truck!

I got more saddle time at the end of last week. The whole story is in my journal.

Thursday, I went over to ride with Nicole. I rode Polo:

Friday, I took George out.

Saturday, I went out with Gina. I rode Amish:

Sunday, DH and I got Iggy and Phin out for a nice long ride:
