@phantomhorse13 don't jinx it! I'm knocking on so much wood right now

She's settled down a little bit having Hippo in a small yard in her paddock, and she can deal when Hippo can go back into her own paddock (but we're burning a BIG log in there and don't want to risk the pony investigating and getting hurt, so it was either round pen where Ikora can't see her, or in Ikora's paddock where there's too much feed for her... so the best compromise is a small electric tape yard)

@blue eyed pony , cows are just durn troublemakers! They taste good though. LOL

@RegalCharm , what flowers and gardens? The older I get the less I have and am down to the point I put some annuals in pots every year. Haven't even done that this year yet.

I bet having 3 of them kept you hopping! What will be nice is when they get old enough to help you with chores.

@phantomhorse13 , hey, letting Cutter cut my hair is an idea! LOL I kept reaching back and waving him away but while he minds for that instant it wasn't long until he was back poking at it. He has the attention span of a gnat.

Keep them scared! LOL not really but I get aggravated with the greats when I go to all the trouble of saddling a horse for them and they take one lap around the corral and are done. I don't discourage them from taking an interest though. They are actually old enough now that they need to learn how to saddle and ride by themselves instead of auntie leading them around. They're just not here often enough to teach them anything.

Woohoo! Back to all your different mounts. I got some that need exercising too if you're ever in the neighborhood.

Not a thing going on around here. Seen a blurp on the weather where we are supposed to get near 90F in the near future but didn't tune in to see when. I'd like some nice 70 degree weather without rain for a while before we jump that high.

@JCnGrace What no flowers or garden. Here I thought you were a country girl. LOL..... I don't know about letting Cutter cut your hair I am picturing a head with bald spots where he took roots and all. I can get some chores from the oldest but not when they are all together. she has helped me take clothes out of the dryer and put them on hangers in exchange for computer time. I also use the older ones for Gophers. LOL.....And the little one I can get to pick the yellow flowers in the yard. (dandelion) but she gets bored with that in short order.

@JCnGrace LOL, it rained the night I washed my car, although it wasn't supposed to! Go figure. & the weather is crazy...it keeps jumping here too!

@phantomhorse13 yayy for all that saddle time. So awesome!! I ended up hitting the trails this weekend too finally!

@RegalCharm aww, I bet they all kept you on your toes! Carmen is a smart girl!! And bale up some of that grass for me, LOL!

I confess, my remote desktop connection isn't working, so I had to call the IT people & just waiting for them to call me back. I was in the middle of something & it just kicked me off. It's been happening to a few of my coworkers today.

This past weekend, I took Promise out solo on the new trails (we went with a group last time) near the barn. I handwalked her on the road leading up to the park, because it's still new to her. Being next to her helped.

Saturday we didn't go super far, because she was a bit tense during the ride. Two dogs chased her while we were on the road, so it wasn't a good start. :( I was irritated because they just let their dogs run out, but whatever.

On Sunday, no dogs ran out onto the road & she was much more relaxed. Let her just graze when we got to the park & then I hopped on once she was fully calm. Had an amazing ride. Although, we DID get lost LOL - but we found our way back. There's over 60 miles of trails, so it's a big place. Marked, but still - it's huge!

We did at least 8-9 miles. Such a good weekend. <3 May take her out again this weekend if the weather is nice so she gets even more used to it.

I gave her the last few days off because I know it was a lot for her. BUT! I had to order new trail boots! The Easyboot ones we had...one came off on the trail, & another was falling apart. So I ordered Cavallos, they're a better brand. I replaced the Easyboot ones twice, so no more. But she was REALLY good. So prud of her!

Safe to say I'm sore, LOL.

@PoptartShop yes, it seems like one of them is always wanting something and they all want something different to eat at different times. The 6 year old is the most serious one though as when you start talking to her she will sit and cross her legs and just talks with the most serious looking face, no smiles, no laughter and she thinks really fast on her feet and will always have an answer for you. All three of these Grand Babies were fostered and adopted by son and dil.

@TuyaGirl just wanted to say Hi and hope the weather has settled down enough so you get to work and see Tuya a lot.

@Caledonian Also want to say Hi as I haven't talked to you for a long time. I hope everything is ok in Scotland and you can start working again soon. Even though when you do, you will probably be wishing for more free time after a while. I always found it hard to go back to the grind stone after having a nice vacation somewhere.

@phantomhorse13 the antlers are a good food source for some other furry animals. Do they ever have any endurance rides in Ohio that you have been to. Down on Route 7 they have horse riding trails in the Wayne National Forest but no camp grounds that I know of.

Hello to everybody else and enjoy this hump day. A long weekend coming up for most of those working.
And Hello to those who have stopped posting. We miss you.

@RegalCharm - My reason for not coming in as often is that I get intimidated that everyone always address each person. I can't and feel bad. I read but really can't do the respond to each person and I feel bad about not doing it so I often don't post here... just my opinion fwiw.

Love everyone's pics and rides! Thanks for sharing!

I confess that I haven't ridden a lot lately... that's okay getting stuff needing done around the house...

I also confess that I am floating away! So much rain, I mean crazy amounts. County is under a flash flood warning, I'm on high ground so it runs off but takes dirt with it. I feel so bad for the horses, I know everyone's thought is to let horses be horses but I hate that they are outside right now... they don't have a run in on the pasture they are in but it does have nice tree cover and they are under but I bet they would love to be in their stalls right now. I just can't put them in right now and feel super guilty about it. I'm working on their main pasture and have explained it to them just give me another month and they will have a nice pasture to get back into... they aren't buying it. Oh well, guilty I shall feel...

This rain is helping the garden though, and hopefully the pasture. I fertilized it and over seeded it so hopefully it'll look good soon.

.
@lb27312 Please don't feel bad for not addressing everybody all the time. I don't do it a lot sometimes either. So don't feel bad. Just post what you want to say and that is good.

As far as the horses don't feel bad they don't have a run in shed. Lots of horses don't. Horses have been living out in the open for a very long time and survived. like you said yours have trees to get under so they are protected against the heavy rain beating down. You are doing ok and they will be just fine . You will be surprised even if you had a run in how often they would go out and stand in the rain anyway. LOL.....

You are thinking "They would love to be in their stalls." Horses like there stalls when it is FEEDING Time they get goodies and don't have to work walking around to munch on hay. LOL.... And then turn around and poop in their cleaned stalls that you worked hard to clean for them. LOL.

It will all come together for You and Them. It just takes time and labor and money for a horse person to feel they have provided a good environment for their fur babies home.

I got to thinking about how much I have invested in Carmen and it has not been a year yet. I maybe should have adopted a good horse. LOL.....
I worry just as much. Like did you eat your food. Did she poop to day How much water did she drink Here is a treat for you. etc etc etc.....LOL.

@RegalCharm aww, that's amazing. They sound adorable. <3 Oh yes, Carmen is your baby! Totally normal to worry like that. They are our kids, we always have to make sure all is well with them, no matter how big or small they are!

@lb27312 oh, don't feel bad! It's a lot to keep up with. That sucks about the rain, my goodness. Try not to worry too much though - it's not a bad thing they have 'time off'. Sometimes it's good to let them just clear their heads, just like with us. LOL, my horse actually prefers to stand out in the rain. She has a pasture with a run-in, but most of the time when it's raining, she's out there standing, not a worry in the world.

I confess, another busy workday! Promise's new trail boots came (the other ones fell apart, I replaced them twice already so I got a better brand), but they may be too big. Gonna try them on her later, but I may need to size down. The sizing was a little different from the other brand, but we shall see!

Gorgeous out today too. May sit outside soon with my laptop!

I did take off next Tuesday, so 4-day weekend!!

Ride more, worry less.

@PoptartShop glad you are enjoying the nice weather. Be prepared though if you get the weather I have had and are getting for the next few days. Rain Rain and Rain with temps in the 50's & low 60's. Furnace has been running for a couple of days and it is set on 70 F.

A 4 day weekend, that is cheating. LOL Have fun and enjoy the holiday break. I like the wild child mane on Promise. You need to make Orange, Blue, Red stripes in it and she will blend in with the young people these days.

@lb27312 hope you are feeling better today. Tell your fur babies we all said hello. Will/Can you get together with your family/friends for a little while over the weekend holiday?

@RegalCharm , I am a country girl but more a horse girl so we have a very tiny yard without garden space. Besides, there's only 2 of us and only 1 that actually likes her veggies. When the perennials started getting thin in the flower beds I took that opportunity to lay plastic down and cover it with mulch. I have pots to plant the annuals in to add some color here and there. Just haven't been anywhere to get some plus we are still getting some cold weather. And my back thanks me for not having to be bent over pulling weeds. LOL

Shame on you for getting the youngest to pull weeds for you by telling her they are flowers! LOL

@PoptartShop , Yay, for getting in a long trail ride and taking a 4 day weekend, enjoy it! Liniment is not just for horses!

@lb27312 , you don't have to respond to everyone, we like hearing about you. Everybody keeps talking about their beautiful weather and I was starting to feel like the dark cloud producing all the rain must have been stuck over us. Now I don't feel so alone. LOL

Still nothing new around here. You'd think that boredom would make the time crawl but days still go by in a blink.

The horses are too busy stuffing their faces with grass to cause any drama. LOL
