Do you foresee any upcoming trends in the horse industry in the next five years?

Title says it all basically :)

I'm doing it for a project!

My horse is the reason I wake up in the morning.

From what I've been hearing, there is a big push in 12 states to create racinos which combine horse racing and gambling. Doesn't sound great but in one state its revitalized the horse industry, created 40,000 jobs over a 5 year period and increased the stud fees and purses as well as encouraged people to buy more farming equipment, more farm buildings, etc.
The other big trend is fairgrounds are expanding and including more horse events, in some cases horse racing. Could be trotters or TB racing or QH racing don't know all those details yet.
As far as horse show trends and breeding I haven't seen anything about that in the horsey news I get on google alerts and from some of the people behind the economic development. If u need more info for your paper, I can send u the links. Would love to hear what other people know about horse industry trends.

The number of warmblood European imports should start to go down as the price of these horses is slowing increasing in a few years the profit margin will be too small to take the risk.

So many of horse owners are from the baby boom... it makes me wonder what will happen when they all get too old to ride!

Also, the more we build houses and industrial areas outward, and the more prices go up, I think it will be harder and harder to own and keep horses.

But if we have less riders and owners, what will happen to all the horses? Do you think breeding and population will go way down? I think it would have to...

Of course, I'm not saying any of this will happen over night ;)
