If you want to use oats in treats, they should be fine. It's not like you'll be feeding them to him as a regular meal.

oh alright then thanks heaps i just wasnt too sure that all.. so he would still stay mellow if they were only in his treats?

He should. I feed mine oatmeal cookies (the cheap generic ones), and my normally laid back horses are still laid back.

Speed Racer's use of cheap oatmeal cookies sounds like a good idea. Or use oatmeal in your recipe instead of the grain.
It seems like pound for pound prepared treats are a better value for the dollar...but then I will look for any way to not cook.

LOL, I'm a real meanie, I buy a 25Kg bag of Golden Years Crunch, costs about $10 and use that as treats, even the dogs here love it
