Dreamy ride at the new barn

After months of being unhappy with my barn I finally made the move and just had to share with someone how happy I am with the new place. So, a couple of weeks ago I got into a screaming fight with my former BM about continually finding Tanner's water empty (not low, empty). She tried to tell me I was over reacting and it was no big deal. About half an hour later he choked and I had to take him to the hospital where blood work revealed that he was very dehydrated. He has fully recovered and I moved him to a new barn thursday morning.

He is adjusting so well, and I am loving the place. There is no barn drama that I can detect so far and Tanner has settled in like a champ. I think it is mostly due to him finally getting the right amount of feed (he lost 100 lbs at the other place) and not being in a mudhole up to his knees. His thrush is already looking much much better. Tonight we had our first ride in the indoor and he was such a gentleman. He collected beautifully and did absolutely everything I asked of him. Afterward we watched the sunset together while he had a bit of a graze (we have green grass in february, I love it!!). Now I am kicking myself for having not left that hold junk heap barn behind months ago!!

Wow, I can't imagine people running a barn who don't even know the importance of water for horses (or for any other living thing for that matter). I'm very glad you got out of there when you did...from the sounds of things your horse wouldn't have made it much longer.

I am glad to hear you have been able to find a barn that takes great care of your horse. I wish you both all the best at your new place!

Dealing with barns that are "lack there of" sucks.
