Face Planted!

So the other day, me and my best friend/coworker and I were getting a lesson from our boss (we are working students at a hunter jumper training barn) and everything was going great! Rudy, the pony I was riding, was jumping everything perfectly! Sailor, my friend's horse, has a VERY green mind and overreacts quite often. We've been working to lose his attitude to some avail. However, every once in a while, he reminds us that it is still there! She went over a jump and he jumped her out of the saddle then bucked HARD a few times, getting her off. She landed flat on her back and knocked the wind out of her (he's 17hh so its not a fun fall!). He turned so sharply and bucked so violently after the jump that he fell over! He lied there in a daze for a moment, realized he was 'free', hopped up, and took off out of the arena! I kicked my feet out of the stirrups and rode over to my friend and was just about to get off, when Rudy decided all of a sudden to take off, too! I was jolted immediately to the side and after a few seconds of holding on, I faceplanted right into the ground! We have blue stone footing, so my friend and I were very scratched up. My face was COVERED in blue stone and I have two ugly scratches across my forehead now.

Here's a picture (enjoy my embarrassment!)

It was awful! And our boss made fun of us the rest of the day cause we BOTH fell off in one ride! I laughed at myself walking back to the barn. My friend took a little longer before she could laugh it off, but no harm done! Only our pride is bruised now (and my forehead) xD

Ouch! I have had something just loke that happen to me only I had about 50+ people see it happen! It's reffered to as the time I tried to plow the arena with my face, LOL! Yep I came off and landed face first in the only spot in the arena that they hadn't graded that day! I wound up with a concussion and some small scratches. What a lovely end to my first gymkhana! From then on I was told before every event "no trick riding" LOL! I hope you and your friend heal up quickly!

She has been taking tylenol - her back is still a bit sore. But we were both back to riding the next day! My head is sore to the touch but besides that we're both in working order.

LOL, that's almost always the first thing I do whenever I bite the dust; look around to see who all saw it...then bust out laughing
