Facebook banning animal sales

I don't have a facebook but a trainer who sells horses for me informed me that she can no longer do sales through facebook. I have heard many people are moving to mewe groups for horse sales. Have any of you made the move over there for horse sales?

Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.

They don't sell halters anymore for $2,000 with a free horse thrown in?

There are still people selling horses, but it certainly takes a lot more creativity now...

There is no joy equal to that found on the back of a horse.

Several of the "for sale" groups that I watch have moved over to mewe. I keep meaning to set up an account there but just haven't done it yet. I only do fb to keep up with my kids, I don't do any of the other social media sites (instagram, twitter, etc...). I've noticed a lot of the people on fb just listing the horse with no price and say to send them a message to ask about price. I can only imagine how many message those people respond to from people that are just curious and have no actual intention of purchasing. I'm not going to bother people like that. I'll just assume the old saying is true and if I have to ask the price then I can't afford it :)

I heard that is because PETA purchased a bunch of stock in FB and are pretty much demanding any thing to do with animals be banned. I had belonged to a Homesteading group and FB shut it right down after PETA made the purchase. That group had been on FB for 5 years.

I saw a few people selling 'lawnmowers' aka their horses... Made me laugh, they are definitely getting creative like @phantomhorse13 said!

Ride more, worry less.

When facebook dropped the ability to buy and sell guns I dropped facebook and moved to mewe for that. I noticed recently a ton of horse sales groups just blew up on mewe in membership numbers. Like going from 25-ish people to several thousand in just a few days. I guess the trainer was right facebook is driving away people who do animal sales, I just notice due to the horse sales.

I have never even heard of mewe. I use FB a lot for buy/sell as I find more things available there than say, on Kijiji. I am finding that people are getting creative with horse sales, but didn't realize there was another platform available for buying/selling animals. I'll have to check it out!

I like FB b/c I have all the groups I follow so get multiple updates and it's nice to see it all in one place.

That's how mewe works as well. You join groups and when somebody posts a sale to the group it notifies you etc. All your groups are in a list and get little red number icons on them when they have new posts or new chats and so on. Works just like facebook does more or less just more privacy and they don't have ads or sell your data to advertisers and so on. I only have it to be on sales groups for firearms but I joined a bunch of local horse sale groups as well because I have a horse I will be selling in a week or so that I want to post to all those local groups. The group membership levels have ballooned since I joined them though so I am guessing it is the facebook crowd leaving in droves at least as far as horse sales are concerned.
