Feel so Happy :D

I feel so happy, I mean it's probably not anything but it just made me day :)

Did groundwork with Buzz today, was in the arena to start of with but decieded to go to the top paddock and work there.
I had tied Buzz's leadrope around his neck and he was following me, well for the most of it lol had to grab him a few times in the first 10mins but after that he was completely in tuned with me.
I was turning sharp circles following his head around, then decieded to do it the other way so he would follow me in tight circles with his head, he did it :D

Started running and he followed in a trot, started sprinting and he cantered :D thats what really did it for me, cos after he still stopped and listened.

Put him over a few jumps and he was great, I would run next to him and send him over stop a little after the jump and he would turn around and stop with me.

This was all away from his paddock pal who was neighing her head off, I just feel so good because I feel like I am finaly developing a good bond with Buzz :D

This thread was purely designed for me to share, welcome to share your experiances when you feel like that connection is reached.

Isn't that exciting?!!?
None of my non-horse friends understand when I explain to them how excited I am about my achievements with Butch.

That moment when you begin to realize that your horse is not just WANTING to listen and make you happy but has become completely in tune with you and your thoughts. Ahhh, there is NOTHING like it on earth.

The other day I worked with Butch in the small indoor arena that we have, doing the same things you were doing, minus the jumps, and when he began to pick up his feet and trot, then canter... he has never followed with me before, he is always happy to walk, but never anything more, so this moment was brilliant! And when we stopped and cooled out for a minute I went outside where he couldn't see me and jumped up and down shouting 'YES! WE DID IT!!!'

He also lowered his head for me to fix his halter and was patient while I massaged his ears and he has never before let me touch his right ear, ever. This time he didn't even jump or hesitate.

These moments are golden and it is so hard to talk about them to other non horse people, who say 'Ok, so you ran with your horse, big deal?' Le Sigh.

Congratulations RedTree!!!

Me either. I don't bother telling them anything. It would probably go like this if I did:

"So you jumped, big deal!" *eyeroll* (turns to other friend) she's always banging on about the things she does with that horse, soooo uncool."
