Finding One's Place...

***I’m a chatty Cathy lately, I know! Sorry!

So lately (the past couple months), I have been very unhappy with my ‘horse endeavors’ with no ‘want’ to really do anything. Don’t get me wrong, I love my horses more than anything, and have no issue wanting to be out in my barn brushing them and being around them, but when it comes to wanting to ride, I’m just tuckered out. I’ve tried a few western riding disciplines, reining came out to be my favorite, I was really enjoying it, my horse was doing awesome in it, but my trainer, well…it was bad news and I ended up just up and leaving with my horse and haven’t looked back. That whole event put a really bad taste in my mouth, and since, riding really hasn’t been what I want to do. I have very few local trainers in my area that do reining, and if they do, they are all pals, and I don’t want to muddy the water even more.

In all honesty, my all time favorite thing to do is tinker with my horses. As in, get a greeny, push it further along in its training and find a good home for it – problem if I still have a show bug. From my reining lessons, I don’t want to show big, but small schooling shows where there’s ‘less’ pressure I think may satisfy me.

I’m also just lost when it comes down to how I want to ride. Do I want to toss in the towel and no try to ride competitively anymore? Or, how do people find their place? I enjoyed reining, I thought it would turn into ‘my thing’, but I have no desire to begin to touch it again right now. I feel like everyone has their niche’ except me and I don’t know where to begin to try and find it again.

I suppose, what this whole thing comes down to, if have any of you lost your ‘umph’ before? I’m to the point where I’m just all over the board. Do I go back and take lessons (most of me votes no), do I just go back to riding around at home while keeping to myself? Do I just do small schooling shows? What type of riding do I even like anymore?

The questions go on and on. I’m just so blahh…

Sorry for the venting! Hopefully I don’t sound too pathetic!!
