Finding a OTTB?

When I was a young teen I worked at a breeding farm in MD, and fell in love with a yearling filly who was born there. She eventually went off to the sales and on to the track, which totally broke my little teenage heart. I still wonder where she is sometimes, and I'm wondering if there's any way to track her down. I know the names of her ire, dam, and approximately the year she was born (had to be between '91 and '93, I don' remember exactly how old I was at the time. If she's out there somewhere, I'd really love to find out if she's ok. Any ideas?

I would try the website, and enter either the sire or dams name, and see if they come up. Then you can look for their progeny, and see what horses they have registered for the years you think she was born. Its not precise, a lot of horses won't be on there, and not all horses have pictures, but if there's a filly from that sire and dam from one of those years, it might just be yours.

Thanks, I already checked there. There is a filly from the same combination, but it's way too young to be her. No others are listed from her dam.

There is a pedigree site just for Thoroughbreds that was the "prototype" for allbreedpedigree (the TB site was first, the creator of it then made allbreedpedigree for breeds other than TB) -- not all TBs are on there since it is also user-entered, but you can check it at Thoroughbred Horse Pedigree Query

They also have a forum there at pedigreequery, maybe if you ask on the forum someone who has TB database access can check the sire/dam's production record for you and try to gert a registered name for the horse you are looking for?

BUT its sometimes tough to find TBs though even with a registered name, because ownership transfers are not recorded with the Jockey Club-- the papers are just signed over with the horse owner to owner, so the JC doesn't always have accurate ownership records to check, especially if the horse is no longer racing.

Sometimes if you search a registered TB name online with a simple google search you come up with recent race or sale records posted by the track/sale company.

Good Luck!

Thoroughbred Pedigrees at - Thoroughbred Race Records - Mare Produce Records - Thoroughbred Pedigree - Quarter Horse Pedigrees - Quarter Horse Race Records

On the right side of the page, there is a box where you can search for any horse that has raced. You can search a variety of ways, including by her foal date, her sire and her dam combo, and her registered name. You should be able to find her.
