Funny and weird, but a little sad.

So my mom and I were talking. And I was saying how I tend not to buy myself stuff often because i don't get a lot if money and I'm still job searching, I don't often buy stuff for myself.

So I was saying how, if my grandma can't find her spurs (she likes putting her old stuff to use on me lol) I'd buy myself some spures and straps. And a pair of jean, and than I'll start saving money.

And than my mom goes, you should buy new boots too, yours are getting worn down. I laughed and agreed.

But I feel sad getting rid of mt boots, it sounds so stupid, but I've worn them for years, I love them, I wear them more than my sneakers or any other shoe. I just find it a little sad getting rid of them.

It probably sounds so stupid. But I love my boots haha. I found this a little funny. Does anyone feel the same?

I have my favorite pair, and I just take them to my 'boot guy' and just puts a new heel and sole on them.

A good pair of boots is like a good pair of jeans that are worn in just right! Can't beat the feel.

I'm a creature of habit and routine and don't usually adjust very quickly to new things/changes. So, yes, I tend to hang onto jeans, boots ect. until it's almost obscene to continue to wear them.

Seems normal to me........

I'm like that with my boots, jeans, and vehicles. Hubby thinks I need a different vehicle whenever the blue book value on it is lower than what a major repair would cost. I want to fix and drive them until they rust away. We have major conflicts (read fights) on this matter. LOL

I had a similar experience with my truck. I just sold it/traded it in for a newer car. Lots of really good memories in that truck. If an emotion exists I experienced it at one point or another in that truck. I cried but I felt really stupid doing it. The thing is that the darn truck outlasted jobs, boyfriends, countries and had just enough space to fit everything that really mattered to me in the world. Yeah, it had horrible gas milage, the gas gauge did not work great, the AC recently hit the road and its interior was 90 percent dog hair, so yeah was kind of a piece of junk but it was my piece of junk. So, no judgement here on missing a pair of boots.

Might be cheaper to get a new sole on them, as long as they aren't too scuffed. my Grandpa had a quality pair of boots that he kept for 19 years with resoling

I was the second in a pile of girls and everything I had was hand me downs, which I loved. I hated new clothes, and would wear stuff right to the ground. I had this tattered nightgown that my mom and I used to fight over; she would chuck it out and I would rescue it and hide it.

One night she got her hands on it, and I wrestled it back and hid it. Well, early in the morning I awoke to the smell of smoke... There was my mom, in my bedroom, with a galvanized bucket and inside the bucket was my nightgown, consumed in flames. She had this wickedly satisfied grin on her face as she poked and stirred my nightie with a stick.

I just had to laugh; it was such an awesome victory for her!
