Gail Murphey, the scare of a lifetime

I have to share this story because my barn friend just lost her horse to Gail Murphy.

My Story/Experience:
I was moving up to Oregon to start school. I had called Gail Murphy to get a quote and make shipping arrangements for my horse to be shipped from California to Oregon. It was the week before he was expected to ship and I had not received a call from Gail. My father and I called and she told us a day and claimed that she would report back to us later in the week to provide a time.

3 Days before expected ship date, no call. We call her again, no answer. She calls back the next day and says she will pick him up at 10:00 am.

Day of expected ship date, no Gail.. We call her and she says she had a "family emergency" and would pick him up the following day.

By this time I was slightly concerned about her lack of communication. I looked her up online to find the horrid reviews listed below.

My father, and I, in tears called her and told her we do not want her to ship our horse. No call back. Nothing.

She never returned my 1,200 deposit, and I was thinking today about how close I was to having a devastating accident with my love (my horse) a day before college was to start.

Just wanted to share this with fellow horse owners so no one experiences loosing their animal.

The reason I bring this up now is because a friend of mines horse passed away 2 days ago in Gail Murphey's care. The horse was found by the father of my friend on Gail's property, hanging dead from his tie in the trailer. There were several other emaciated horses sitting in the trailer. There was a bolt lock which had to be cut by city police. Gail no where to be found.

Please be careful when shipping your horse with a stranger. I was naive enough to trust a nice sounding women over the phone with a credible looking website. God bless my luck with not loosing my horse. Brings a tear to my eye writing this.
