Good costume ideas for chestnut mare?

Hey there! I'm in need of some help, I'm trying to find or come up with a cute horse and rider costume for my horse and I. I am taking her to Fair this year and at the end of the week they always have a costume class :) I've looked a a few ideas but nothing has caught my eye yet because it's always been for white horses only ( Zebra horse, etc) Or I don't have the materials to make the costume.
My horse Andie is a chestnut with a small white star marking one her forehead, and a white cornet band on one of her rear legs.
**I don't want it to be anything super expensive, I'm just looking for something that I can make at home with some colored sheets or something :). I was half thinking about an Native American theme, I think she would look cute with paint and everything.

If you have a costume rental store, fairly handy, go snoop around for ideas. You can come out with a full costume and you won't have to do anything but bath your horse and maybe put some matching ribbons in its mane

Years ago, I had made an authentic looking high-necked-full-to-the-floor Victorian dress. Zippered sleeves and all.

I had a side saddle that I couldn't sit very well but went in the parade anyway, dressed as a "lady" from Victorian times. My horse was a sorrel with a flaxen mane/tail and the dress was lavender.

It was a striking combination and somehow we managed to take third place in the horse division. I say somehow because that particular parade was always a huge huge event with a lot of entries.

I did the same thing many years later with a different horse. Since I could no longer fit into the dress I had made when I was 20-something, I found something nearly identical in a costume shop
