I'll have to grab some more of him tomorrow! And awesome, thank you! I have never heard of silver dapple.

Not sure if he full mini or not. Owners said they got him from a woman who went to their church when he was a 3 year old. She didnt give them any papers or anything.

I'll measure his height tomorrow! He is a thick and solid little thing. His head comes up to about my waist and he is just slightly taller in the back than my german shepherd. I thought he was a small pony up until today when his owners referred to him as a miniature.

Whats the difference in height between ponies and minis?

His feet seem pretty good but I'm gonna have my farrier look at them when hes out on Wednesday just to make sure

I second Shetland, and Ohhh girl I know you know he's an escape artist, but did you know they are teachers too!

Our old pony taught our HORSES how to crawl UNDER the pasture sections! They weren't hot but would never have dared, until she showed them how gullible they were... Ugh!

Call him Artie AKA Escape Artist?

Oh lord! I hope he doesnt show any new friends he makes how to crawl under fences! haha. The pasture I have picked out for him has fencing that goes all the way to the ground level so that should deter any crawling.

But I dont know how nice of a jumper he is- so I still might be in for a nasty surprise

I have never owned a pony or mini so I've been doing some research on them tonight! They don't need grain or anything right? He seems to have done just fine on grass and hay.

His owners told me he likes to play with jolly balls, large exercise balls and orange cones. So I guess I will invest in a jolly ball and some cones. This should be an experience! Lord only knows what I've gotten myself into.

I like the name Houdini! And the name Pavel! I'm gonna do some more research on magicians and illusionists for names! I like that line of thinking Fly Gap!!

And here are some more pictures of his slightly chubby but still cute pony butt.
Didn't want to post them right after my first post with pics one in case people felt too over loaded. I know how people just hate looking at pictures on this forum

Really though they arent that great, and thats the main reason I didnt post them earlier. He was tired of me and my shenanigans and kept trotting away when I got close. He's going to help me get into shape, I can already tell!

I'm not 100% certain, but I think anything under 34" or 36" qualifies as a mini and from 36" to 14 hands is a pony and everything else is a horse......I think LOL.

Then again, I classify them by their breed, not their height. To me, a quarter horse is a QH regardless of whether they are 12 hands tall or 17 hands tall. A pony is a pony...even if it breaks 14 hands LOL.

hahaha I find myself doing the same thing! Probably one of the main reasons I have such trouble determining whether or not a horse is a pony. That sounded weird - but you know what I meant!

And actually thinking about what you said about him maybe being crossed with shetland- a vet who boards at the barn has a QH/shetland mix and she does favor him a bit! So I agree with the possible shetland.

I let Drifter meet him over the fence and he took one look at him and bolted to the other end of the paddock he was in. I guess he isnt a fan of short horses

I will be interested to see what Whiskey thinks about him tomorrow.
