Has anyone seen these spots before?

Hello All,

My horse Mozart has these light spots on him when he is wet. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen them before or if you know what they are called. Is it some kind of marking or a birthmark? He has about a dozen of them all over his body.

I know that they are nothing to be concerned about, I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what they are, since I've never seen them before.

Its a little hard to tell in the photo but has the hair actually come out or is it just lighter? I cant offer any advise but my mini gets these small circular spots over summer where the hair doesn't seem to grow and they are more obvious when she is wet. The vet couldn't find any mites or anything that might cause them and at the end of summer the hair grows out again. I did wonder if it was from ticks but no patches ever started in the places where I had removed them from. She only gets them on her belly, rump and chest.

Google "birdcatcher spots." That is what they look like to me.
