Okay so one time, I was keeping my horses at my grandparents house while I was in a rodeo in their town...

My cousin was also staying there, with these 2... city girls. So my mother and I were talking about horses(SUCH A SURPRISE) and one of them said(like she knew what she was talking about) "Oh I just love how all black horses are studs! They are just so pretty!"

Needless to say, we had to leave the room. Hahha!

Has something like this happened to you before? xD

This is just so closed minded. If someone doesn't know something, teach them, I bet you find they have something to share as well.

Theres only so much you can do with them though. you get to a point where if theyve never acutally been around horses or farms or ranches you just cant really communicate...its like that here. im the only one with a horsey background so i hardly have anything to talk about. they dont want to hear about hroses and i dont want to hear about their latest shoe buy....

Guys the thread is not for bashing...If you can't joke in a lighthearted way, I'm sure you can start another thread or find a differant one to let all your frustrations out on. We're asking you nicely, thank you.

I had one friend who I could talk to about horses. So during a free moment in class we ended chatting about well... horses. So we're going at it, talking about jumping, tack ect. Then one of my other friends turns to her friend and say "It's like they're speaking an other language!"
Not as funny as all black horses are studs *snicker* but I chuckled when I heard that.

Not exactly like that but show moms, even mine who knows very little. I cant sit in the stands because of them at shows. So nit-picky about everyone who isnt their kid. Though my mom is a nut about being safe so anything along that line she points out to me. My aunt is the worst. She thinks my cousin is the best rider and best horse and blah blah. I dont care about what others are doing and only if someone asks abour it i keep it to myself. I won in a class once and this little kid, who had no reason to be showing yet-arms flapping everywhere and such- i went over and gave them my prize ane told them they looked great, the kid stopped crying then and there. I hate it when winners/loser/parents act better/knowitall.

Heh, people who arent into horses much are hilarious to talk too xD I had a friend over, and I have a horse poster on my wall with like 100 different horses, with their breed, characteristics, average height, and etc. And their was a big grey dapple Percheron on it. So, my friend points at it and says "Oh, my dad raises those Italian Stallions. The ones he has are like 10 feet tall." And she went on and on about the "Italian Stallions" which, I have never heard of, hehehe... And being 10 feet tall? Okay *Shrug* I was like "... no comment..." :P

I remember animal police came out once to help catch the neighbor's hog(even though I'd taken care of it.) One of the cops looked at my welsh pony and my QH mare, an asked, "Is that her baby?" I nearly died inside of shock, but merely replied, "Oh no no, he's twice her age!"

Taking a college roommate out riding with me one day at a friend's home that welcomed me to ride and exercise their horses. I knew she didn't have much horse experience, but she talked all about riding at her uncles ranch. So I figured it wouldn't be a bad thing to have some company while riding some well broke horses. We went out in the pasture, I caught the horses, handed her the lead rope to one of the mares so we could lead them to the hitching post to start grooming and tacking them up. I glanced back (I was leading the way) and stopped dead in my tracks... The scene, she was holding the very end of the lead rope and walking DIRECTLY BEHIND the mare's butt(the mare was going the right way because she was following me and the mare I was leading)! Yikes! Quickly corrected her, ask more detailed questions like I should have done in the first place and found out what her real horse experience at her uncle's ranch was. His horses were already tacked up and ready to mount and then plod along the trail, LOL! Yeah, glad she didn't get hurt following behind a horse that is following someone else like you are part of a pack string, but wow, you should speak up if someone asks you to do something that you don't know the first thing about!

That is why I now watch very carefully when I have a beginner of any level with me. Making sure they are as safe as one can be around horses. I enjoy teaching beginners about horses, safety and anything horse related. Last summer I got two young teenage girls to blush when I answered a question fairly straightforward. They had been getting riding lessons on my mom's mares and on this particular day I had taken the newly purchased stallion out for a bath and exercise. As he was trotting around me so beautifully, they noticed that there was a strange sound coming from him and they wondered what that was. I think they were quite embarrassed that the answer involved male anatomy LOL

my parents are not horse people lol. whenever they see a horse they say "wow thats a BIG horse!" and they look at me like "right?" I usually explain to them that no, its actually an average sized horse and the horses we have are petite arabians lol

its just funny because literally every horse they see that is over 15 hands is some rare type of HUGE horse to them :)

That's so funny!! My family is opposite "OMG this horse is so small!"
No mom.. Sky is just huge. That's an average size. "Really? Oh..."

Lol. A friend of mine came out to visit and we went to give the horses some carrots. She was commenting on my horses 'boy parts' as he was rather relaxed at the time and asked how he cleans it since it didnt look like he could reach by himself. Well, I got all enthusiastic and explained how I have to clean it and how satisfying it is when I get heaps of gunk out, the look on her face was priceless.

I was at camp taking pictures in the petting zoo after a camp and some campers were still hanging around. They came up the fence and looking at our mini mule said "oh look a donkey!" okay fair enough she IS 50% donkey but then they looked at our miniHORSE and said "oh another donkey".....all the while ignoring the one actual donkey...I think they offended the mini horse, not that shed do anything about it, far to lazy.
