Help rug sizes for Yearling please

Hi everyone

This is my 1st post & please dont slate me because im learning (You see it on other threads)

Ive brought a 14 mth old Tb, Im trying to get his winter turnout rug, now as he lives out all year which i know he will need rugging up alot, he has one on at the moment i know its a turnout but i dont know if its a lightweight, medium or heavy but seems to be doing the job as he fine with no cold, it does not say size on it, but is baggy on his chest & shoulder, anyone any ideas of his size, want to order now as only a few sizes left, id rather get abit bigger so lasts him for when he puts on weight on & throughout winter,

Hes a Tb, currently standing 13.2,

Edit: Because im sure i need a heavyweight???, im also getting him rug with neckpiece but what else do i need?

Thank you

Measure him from the center of his chest around to his tail and that should give you the rug size he will need currently since blankets are measured in inches. Maybe get a size bigger so that he will have a little room to grow. There are a many different styles to choose from but really its what fits your horse. You will definitely want a heavy weight for winter- the higher the denier the thicker the blanket. So like a 600 will be lighter than say a 1200 denier or higher. Really depends on how cold it gets where you live and how thick a coat your horse gets. Here is a store you can see a bunch of winter turnouts.
