My hoarde of tack will soon be - hopefully - saying goodbye. Now that I don't have my own barn to stuff it seems kinda crazy keeping it all in my basement >.> Considering I can look at the majority of it & say 'I'll NEVER use this.' Although I'm still the girl at the barn with ALL four of her saddles out there. Each one has it's own saddle stand with the matching bridle on the hook above. I've also got a stand just stuffed with snaffles. So if anyone wants to try something? You can probably find it in that box. This place has added to my hoarding in a different manner. For some reason I can't stop collecting SMB type boots. It's like if someone has them for sale I have to have them. Oh and horseloverz... there's seriously nothing I need. Does it matter? Noooo... there goes my paycheck.

I just tried to sell a saddle but then decided not too.. sure glad I didn't because it ended up being the only saddle that fits the horse I just bought!

Hello, my name is Meg, and I'm a tack hoarder.

At one point I counted over 50 bits. That number has dwindled since I loaned them out, and can't remember to who, I WILL replenish once used tack sale season starts.
-I have 6 western bridles
-3 English bridles (oldest is 27 years old)
- 6 pair of spurs
- 6 saddles (4 western, 2 huntseat ~ both are broken) and 1 horse
- 13 pair roping/barrel reins
- 16 pair split reins
- 3 draw reins
- 7 girths
- 5 lead ropes with chains
- 3 without chains
- 27 saddle pads
- 2 measuring sticks
- 4 nylon sheets & hoods
- 3 cotton sheets
- 4 cotton duck winter blankets
- 4 sets sport boots
- 6 bell boots (never used)
- splint boots
- skid boots
- 13 polo wraps (just in case a horse has an extra leg)
- 2 show halters
- 4 breastcollars
- 2 tie-downs
- 1 rope
- 1 cooler (never used)
- 2 German Martingales
- 2 running martingales
- 1 standing martingale
- 1 sidepull
- 1 training surcingle
- 3 lunge lines
- 17 curb straps
- 4 pair hunt stirrup irons (extra)
- 2 pair western stirrups (extra)
- 1 set shipping quilts
- 3 twitches
- 4 non-working clippers
- 1 working clippers
- 8 saddle bags, the ones for trail rides (never used)

Yet Odie's halter is over 12 years old, and the only one he has

Currently we are searching for a new saddle for my daughter. Because we are good friends with the tack shop owner, we now have an additional 7 hunt saddles stuffed in my 8x10 tack room that I'm supposed to share with 3 other people.....

P.S. I forgot to mention I still have the 3 saddles from friends that we tried out that are still there

Hoard, all the way! I shared this on another thread the other day but will again to make everyone else with this addiction feel better. You are not alone.

This was just half of them in the barn...I still had 4 in the house to clean, 8 full size lockers of bridles, haven't even thought about going through the trunks & rubbermaid totes full of show blankets, bits, boots and only god knows what else.

Hey all you tack hoarders! How about getting organized and then donating some of your unused horse things to a therapeutic riding barn or to a rescue stable? It's a win win when you do. I did just that and have a nice neat tack room, and feel good about helping out.

I took an 11 year hiatus from horses but still kept a full tack box, one western saddle, and one english saddle (through cross country moves, even!) "just in case." As luck would have it, 90% of the stuff doesn't work for the horse I recently purchased.

I have got about 15 halters between 2 horses. The same goes for lead ropes, at least a dozen. I have multiple buckets of grooming supplies. This is all not including everything else I have in storage LOL. HENNY NEEDS IT. EVENTUALLY. He doesn't fit 99% of the halters he has because they're too big(Curse that tiny babydoll head!) but I keep them for the future bahaha. Sad thing is is he's about to grow out of his biggest weanling halter and the only yearling halter I have that fits him(and will be the only to fit him for moooonths) is my nice leather one and his rope halter. :/

there in the midst of sacred pollen hidden, all hidden he; how joyous his neigh

Great idea!!! One problem, what happens when we need it again or a lesson of 4-H kid needs it?? My whole saddle search nightmare right now is because I got rid of a saddle. **Spoken like a true hoarder**

I'm with you on this one busy. You just never know when you'll need something! Plus, I look at most of it as investments. The good stuff will always be good stuff. My daily driver is one my mom had customed over 25 years ago. No way I could part with it because I couldn't get another...and just in case it is out of commission, I have it's twin for back up. Yes, I know I have a problem and I'm good with that.
