Horse Ownership

Hi all! First off, I wasn't sure where this would go so I'm putting it here, sorry if this is the wrong place.

I've been riding off and on since I was 7 (I'm now 16). Last winter I leased a horse who I completely fell in love with and was heartbroken when he was sold to another barn about 6 months ago. Well...he's now for sale. I've been thinking about getting my first horse before he was even for sale. He's a 17 year old Quarter Horse. Am I crazy? I'm aware it takes a lot of time, money, commitment, etc and I know I probably won't realize just how much until I actually have a horse. I just want to hear some of your opinions and hopefully some input from people my age who have a horse. Thanks!

Do you have a job? If you do, how much do you make a month and are your parents willing to supplement. If you don't, how do your parents feel about the idea of getting a horse?
Do you have time on top of working + going to school to take care of a horse / ride regularly?
