Horsehair Bracelets

I found a few pieces of my mare's mane/tail caught in the barn earlier, so I formed it into a bracelet. Nothing fancy, but I like it. :) But the little knots came undone, and it barely fit before so now when I tie the knots again, it won't fit.

Has anyone ever tried to make a bracelet like this before? Any suggestions on how to do it? I'm planning to try the same thing that I did before, but stronger, as soon as I can find long enough pieces of horse hair, but I can't think of anything else to try. :P

I make and sell horsehair bracelets. The most attractive type (to me) is an 8 stranded square braid with glued on endcaps. You can use superglue. Try practicing with string before cutting some hair from your horse.

If you're good with knots you can make knotted sliding clasp. I have seen them with fancy turk's head and pineapple knots but am not good at that kind of thing myself.

I havent done it myself- i would try to measure my wrist first- id tie a piece of yarn or even a hay string and see how far i could get it before it didnt fit around my hand and use that as a template.

I also make and sell custom horse hair bracelets/items.......tying a knot won't hold it, like another person said glue it......

Thank you, everyone! :) I'll have to try some glue...and maybe experiment with different styles. I have plenty of hairs stored up -- I kept all the stray pieces I've come across over the last couple of years! Haha. Thanks again!
