How big?

I am almost 14, 1.65cm tall and 49kg and looking for a new horse. I REALLY have my heart set on an arabian but if i would grow too tall for one i will get another breed. It is estimated for me to grow up to be 1.79cm tall, so basically what i'm asking is how big of a horse should i get (i want to keep this horse forever) and if an average arabian would be too small?

1.79 cm... Do you mean meters? Because if you're only going to 1.79 centimeters tall an Arabian would be plenty big enough for you. ;)

You can certainly find taller Arabians around, and the nice thing about Arabians is they tend to have a very round barrel which takes up your leg nicely. You could also look for an Arab cross.

That said, I hope your looking at more than just the breed when shopping for a prospective purchase.

I think you'd be just fine. I'm 5'3" or 4" and 175lbs and ride a 14hh(ish) short backed arab mare and she's just fine.

also it's not just about if the horse could carry my weight, since my friends shetland can still carry me with ease. It's also, after a certain height is reached riding a small horse ir pony looks just plain stupid...

Look into an Arab cross, if you're worried about it. Bigger build, with the potential to still have the arabness you like so much.

Well, I'm 5'8" & 175 lbs. This is me on a 14.3 hand, 830 lb Appy/Arab (but most Arab):

This is me on a 15.2 or 3 (she won't stand still to be measured) Arabian:

Neither one has ANY problem carrying my weight. I don't know about looks. I'm not sure a horse lives who could make me look good...and I'm beyond worrying about "stupid"!

Riders ask "How?" Horsemen ask "Why?"

That depends on the horses build as well, not just their height. An nice stout Arab with a keg for a barrel, will take up your leg which will prevent your feet from hanging to the horse's knees.

I'm 5'4" and my mare is 15hh max, she's an Arab/Dutch cross but definitely has more of an Arab look and has that Arab well sprung ribcage. In the picture below you can see how my leg just barely reaches her elbow.

Are you going to want to do any sort of competitions?
If you're in the UK (going by the metric measurements) you're young enough for pony classes.
What about a part arab if you like the look of the breed, the welsh x arab is a nice cross and they are usually sharp and forward going, they tend to be more useful for all round local showing whereas pure breds are pretty much restricted to arab shows and the standard is quite high
