Just wait until you have such a wreck, or had some other trauma that obliterates your confidence. I grew up on a training farm, riding everything.

When my confidence was shattered, I cannot tell you what a blessing that lead rope is, especially at the start of the rebuilding process.

Or another example, wait until you work for someone and your first ride on a colt is you just sitting there and having someone lead you.

Or wait until you are hosting your own child's birthday party at the barn. Are you going to let kids you don't know talk you into riding loose in that kind of situation? Are you going to be unfair to the other kids by letting even one you do know ride loose? Just wait until you are older and rethink it.

Be mad if you wish, or just get over it. In truth, even though you are 14, you ARE still "just" a kid. You still have a while before anyone is going to take you seriously. It will suck, but eventually it will all work out. To me, this is a silly thing to get so worked up about.

I can't tell if she actually got worked up about it as much as ,as she put it, annoyed because she felt a lack of respect because she said she could ride and wasn't allowed to on her own.

I understood her annoyance but she lost all weight when she responded to a post, that also annoyed her, with very bad judgement. Thereby bringing out the true parenting of parents who do not tolerate disrespectful actions from their kids.

I'm 42 years young and still take my lumps when a comment slips out that is remotely taken as rude my mother. I absolutely love the fact that she continues to teach me how to stay a respectful young man and pray that I have and will continue to portray that learning through my spawns....just kidding, they are good kids..all 5 of them.

Woah, take it down a little horsesgs. You're the one who posted on a public forum.

I worked the pony parties at my old farm for two years, NO ONE was allowed off lead, even if they were students. Plenty of kids (and parents) were upset about it, you are not the first to be annoyed about being led.

Riding is always a privilege, not a right. Just because you ride, or have a horse, does not make you entitled to anything, especially when it is someone else's horse you are talking about.
Exactly my point... someone else's horse and someone else's party

I simply said in my post that she should consider how she comes across when complaining about something so silly. She reacted like a spoiled child more than once. 14 is just a kid but a kid that age knows right from wrong and how to properly act. She wanted everyone to agree with her and I do not.

As someone else said: wait til you climb on your first colt, or have kids of your own, wait til you get hurt or watch a bad accident. Your opinion will change then. I think its ridiculous to get "annoyed" over being led on someone else's horse at someone else's party. That is my opinion though.

I can understand 14, I was there, and I would have gotten whipped if I complained in the slightest. So sorry but being "14" is not an excuse to me.
