I must just love OTTBs :D

Well I got another one. Yes another off the track Thoroughbred.

You all know my boy Junior, who will be 24 at the end of this month!! I can't believe it!

Here he is being his super cute self with my 4 and 6 year old cousins. He is going to be turned into a lesson horse for them since he is having a hard time staying sound with a heavier rider. Which I don't mind. He has been pretty much retired, with a once in the blue moon ride, for the last few months. He is doing great. A grumpy old man for sure.

But he was once technically race trained. He has a tattoo but was never actually in a race. He was trained and entered, but then scratched at the last second. He just wasn't fast enough during his training.

Well now I have OTTB number two that is the same! He just arrived today. His registered name is Ballpark, but they called him Oscar. I have changed his name to Malakai aka Kai. He is not tattooed but did go through all of the race training. He was pulled as a two year old from training to grow and mature some more. This year he was put back into training and just wasn't proving himself during his workouts so they didn't even bother to race him. He just came to me instead. He was free My trainer is good friends with his trainer at the track.

He is a Storm Cat grandson. About 15.3hh right now and 3 years old. His birthday is February 4th, 2010. Which I know doesn't matter according to JC but I actually go by my horses birthdate when aging them. He is a very typical baby and I look forward to having fun with him

Should be a great addition to the herd. I'm sure he will live a healthy life in his new home.

What a sleek looking boy. We seem to be partial to the bays around here so I gotta say I'm loving him.

Very handsome! Junior looks great, too. I'm a sucker for crabby old horses.

Thanks guys

I didn't want another chestnut. Strictly because I have only ever owned chestnuts lol. Blood bay has always been my favorite color, since I was a kid, and it was so exciting to find out this new boy was such a beautiful color of bay.

I didn't know anything about him except his age and that he was a gelding until he stepped of the trailer yesterday. It was like opening a present

I don't think anything beats an OTTB. I look forward to having another some day. :)

I love Kai's blaze and it sounds like you're going to have an awesome time with him!

Forever loved, never forgotten; my beautiful Indie. <3 Hoofprints on my heart.

I'm actually looking into buying an OTTB when I graduate College. In fact, my first horse was a 24 year old re-trained OTTB.

I hope that your new Addition is a Great one!

Love how sleepy Junior looks in the photos. What a good boy!

As for Kai, what a looker! I've always been a fan of bays. Have fun with him!
