Update on the interview :)
It's really really nice there, so many nice people and lovely horses and ponies! I had a 30 minute interview to start with, pretty generic questions, you know the sort! Managed to answer all the questions pretty easily.
One of the ladies interviewing me is called Amanda, and she used to teach the instructors at Arundel which is where I currently have lessons! (Something in common for the interview teehee..well, not the instructing, but doing stuff at Arundel).
Then I had a little ride on a massive horse called Dique. She asked me to put his bridle on (he already had a saddle on) and it had this fancy nose strap that I hadn't seen before..worked it out though without having to ask :p He was really nice but a bit ploddy (good move on the stables to be honest, nice of them not to scare me!) She told me to just go for a ride around the school as if she wasn't there, she wasn't going to tell me what to do. I don't think she could help herself sometimes though cos she mentioned when to tap him with the whip (typical me!) So I walked and did some circles on each rein, trotted with circles on each rein then had a canter on each rein. Then she put up a small jump (after asking if I was ok with that) and we popped over it a couple of times. Then she changed it to a double and we went over it once. I felt bad cos I was kicking Dique on between the jumps because I thought he was going to break out the canter, but he just has a really short stride! It felt so weird, like a really slow canter like most big horses, but compacted into a pony stride. So bizarre! She said she was fine with my riding and that she just wanted to check I could actually ride.
Then I did some yard jobs, like making haynets, doing water buckets, grooming, bringing a horse in... all easy stuff. I assumed they were happy with me working because I stayed for almost an hour and a half doing jobs! (Initially it was only supposed to be 45 minutes of yard work)
Hours are 7.30-6 with an hour for lunch 5 days a week. Weekends are rota'd which is fine by me
She said I should hear back within the next couple of days so fingers crossed!
To ride or not to ride? ... What a stupid question!!
