I feel like I start all my threads like this and am so excited I only have two weeks til I can change it, but, I am bringing my two geldings home in a couple weeks and need some advice on getting them acquainted. I have about 1.5 acres total, split into 3/4 lots, one pasture and one a dry lot, fenced with 4 strands of electrified rope.

They have never met each other and stay at separate barns. Nova is the alpha in his gelding herd where he is currently stabled, and is a big boned, 16hh morab. Soldier is near the bottom of the pecking order in his mixed gender herd and is a hair above pony height, quarter horse.

It has been suggested that I get Soldier into my pasture first, spread out plenty of hay piles, then bring Nova in. I like this idea, but would appreciate any opinions.

I would let them get acquainted by being neighbors first. Once they get to where they act comfortable in their surroundings and with each other then I would follow what has already been suggested to you.

P.S. Let each have alone time in whatever pasture you're going to introduce them in so that they will be familiar with the fence lines.

No problems with bringing the horses together! They were eating from the same hay pile within seconds :)
