This happened when I was about seven years old - the year before we moved and had to leave behind my first horse I have ever had. It's been at least eight years now, but this memory was just so sweet for a 7 year old and I still hold it with me.(I had a pony before her, but somehow horses are just different from ponies.)
I was just out brushing Amber in the field, and Brisco, Golley, and Amber all lived in the same field.
Well, as I was just grooming her and talking to her, Brisco and Golley both came over because they thought they could come in and get some love on them too. Well, what happened next scared my half to death because I was not expecting it - but now it is too funny and sweet!
Anyways, Brisco and Golley came within 20 or 30 feet from us and Amber took off after them and chased them clear to the other side of the pasture (this was a huge pasture too, I forgot to mention.)
It all happened so suddenly I got scared and ran off to the fence. But when they were a more safe distance away form me I went back to where I was originally standing. Amber came running back and 20 feet before she reached me she slowed to a walk and just walked right up to me and put her head in my chest. Then she turned and made it so I would continue brushing her, right where I had left off.
I had so many memories with Amber, but this one I remember the best.
Amber died at age 30 just three days before my birthday this year. I have been separated from her for about seven years, and all those years up to the day she died - for every birthday wish list for every Christmas wish list, and almost every night I promised myself I would go down and see her once more before her time was up. Her new owner was a dear friend of our and she took great care of my Amberly. But she is young again and galloping through the green meadows in heaven, and she will forever be in my heart. No horse could come anywhere close to how my Amber was.
Rest In Peace Amberly, don't forget me!
